Well, been sick the past few days, so I haven't been able to draw at all. Since I'm feeling better today and it's getting close to the end of the year, I decided I would make a new improvement meme. (made a new one instead of updating the old one because wynaut)

2008- I'd done a bit of drawing before this year, but a lot of it was either traced or copied. There were a few original and they all had horrible frog faces and ended up getting destroyed in later years (kinda wish I had kept them now ;w; but oh, well) The only influence I really had at this point was InuYasha and I was completely in awe with anyone I knew irl that could draw.

2009- I experimented a bit this year. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles and D.N. Angel took over as my main drawing influences. Not sure how I managed it, but I had very clean sketches back at this time. This was the main year of "draw something at night, then look at it the next day and hate it" lol. Overall, though, I was pretty happy with my skill level but was kinda frustrated that my art didn't look like it could have come from a manga.

2010- At the time, I pretty much thought I was super amazing this year (despite the fact that I could barely draw both eyes properly lol). My art was becoming more consistent and I started to feel as if I had some kind of style for once, instead of every drawing looking vastly different. But now, looking back at this year, I honestly think it was some of my worst drawings lol. The faces are squashed, the shoulders are super broad while the hips are like toothpicks, and most of the drawings only have one eye. This is also the start of my messy messy sketching XD

2011- Started experimenting again this year, as well as starting to force myself to draw both eyes. I began to watch a lot of speedpaints and tutorials on youtube, specifically markcrilley, sohpiechan90 and misskerriej. By now, my sektches are just complete chaos lol. This year, I was more interested in practicing and trying new things than actually finishing anything. I built up a lot of confidence in my art over this year and joined dA at the end of the year.

2012- By this year, I no longer had a problem with the one eye thing (unless I was simply being lazy XD ). Coloring, however was still more or less a foreign concept to me. I had a lot of improvement with anatomy, but still had problems figuring out the head structure. I took a drawing class in the later half of the year and tried to apply what I learned, but couldn't quite figure out how to get it to work with my personal art. The sketch on the left is my first-ever drawing of my mascot character, Luna

2013- I took another drawing class in the beginning of the year and started to figure out how combine the shading techniques I learned there to my personal art. I was super comfortable with a pencil during this year and was starting to get the hang of digital art as well. I began to do slightly more complex backgrounds and tried to make it look like the characters were in some kind of environment rather than just some random pattern in the background. Took a painting class second half of the year and was convinced that paints hated me.

2014- Year of magic lol. I took another painting class first half of the year and decided that maybe painting isn't so bad. I watched so many livestreams and switched from drawing in photoshop to SAI. Figured out that a lot of things from traditional painting can be applied similarly in SAI. Worked on making more interesting poses. I realized that my coloring lacked contrast and began to work on that. I'm still pretty pleased with the drawings I did in October and later.

2015- This year, for various reasons, I completely immersed myself in my own little world, blocking out as much as I could except drawing. I discovered my painting style in the beginning of the year and have been working to polish it. Admittedly, I didn't study and experiment nearly as much as I had wanted to, but I still feel like I've learned a lot, especially in terms of mindset. Rather than just trying to get something finished so I can post it, I've been taking my time and have really focused on making my drawings the best I can.

2016+ In the upcoming year and beyond, I would really like to get more outside my comfort zone and try some new things, particularly in regards to perspective and architecture. Also, I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up with my comic and post a new page every week or two~
