Not much of a story here, just really wanted to draw Giygas for some time and finally got around to it. Most of you probably know this guy, whether from the game or the internet, so you can probably guess why I wanted to draw him in the first place, he just fits my style way too well.
So yeah, had a lot of fun with this one, even though it took way longer than it should, hope you guys will like it ^^

That's because I focused on other aspects of the design, ones I deemed more important.
I focused on how twisted and distorted he looks after his mind collapsed fron his own immense power, especially in motion, as the pattern waves around during battle, with an expression of pure despwration and anguish in the center. Like a personification of a nervous breakdown.

Must have been not that serious of a breakdown since Giygas was sane in the “War Against Giygas” timeline.

Never judge someone's sanity based on appearances, one's state of mind is never clear.

Well it’s not by appearances, Giygas in Earthbound Beginnings spoke with intelligent sentences then I assume a year or two later in Earthbound’s final area it spoke with such messed up quotes. Then flashing back to the beginning of Earthbound, the Starman Junior’s behavior suggests that Giygas had regained his sane behavior from the previous game.

They say all it takes is one bad day to turn the sanest of men into a raging lunatic, combine that with immense psychic powers causing a constant strain on your mentality and it have taken as much as a moment to make him snap and turn into a twisted mess of twisted horror.
Optionally, take a look at some drawings made by mental asylum patients, most of the time they're just as bizarre as Giygas' twisted form.
