Very cute! I like the idea of a steampunk Olympic metal. And yes, that's a piece of an abalone shell that you've polished and placed on the bottom. I once had an abalone shell when I was a kid, so I recognized the piece on your medal. Abalone shells always have that rainbow-colored interior.
