Wow - this is sumptuously captivating! The moment I laid eyes upon this, I was instantly drawn into the image, and simply could not shake free. There is so much to comment on here that one is lost for a place to start...
Firstly, let us cast a scrutinizing eye over the wonderful lines of DawidFrederik - a fantastic drawing forms the basis of this collaborative work, from design to characterization. The pencils are very crisp and clear, presenting the fine detail without unnecessary ambiguity or clutter. The exaggerated perspective embues the piece with a hightened sense of heroism, dynamically forcing the angle to best emphasize the action as it unfolds. Distinction between the purposeful styling of the figures and the loose, free-form approach to the background domiciliary really adds another dimension to the illustration, building the composition to another level. The design of the focal character is refined and interesting, an amalgumation of war-time flying-ace and contemporary big city taxi driver, with a distinctive steampunk bent. The expressions are simply charming, warming the viewer to the piece as a whole. Great work.
And then there are the lavish colours of Bakanekonei - so deep and rich, but never excessively overpowering. Bold, yet contained, the vibrant hues are well rounded by the skillfully applied shading, filling in form and presence. The muted palette of browns and greys is well ballanced with exciting flashes of blue and green, injecting visual interest into the overall scheme. The clouds, in particular, demonstrate a dream-like watercolour aesthetic, and juxtapose perfectly the rusted texture of the character's metallic flight-pack. Lighting effects are put into good use for added attraction. The finished illustration reminds me somewhat of the promotional artwork for this classic video game - [link] - although that's a pretty tenuous link, I must admit. This is a truly magnificent achievement, however, full of life and personality, and the pair of you should be very proud indeed. Well done to you both!

This is really nice. I have a problem with the leg-- I understand what you're trying to get through with your stylization of them but I can't help feeling that it looks like they're cut off. That's my only problem with it. Your coloring job is amazing.
