Bei dem D&D System hast Du sogenannte innere und äußere Ebenen einer Welt. Die Inneren beschreiben die Elemente, die diese RPG-Welt wie Schalen umgeben, die Äußeren sind zumeist Ebenen von Göttern oder magischer Energien, so zum Beispiel auch die Ebene der Schatten. Ich bin mir nicht so recht sicher, ob das auch noch für das aktuelle System gilt, aber in der 3.0 und 3.5 war es noch so.
