The Empire is on the roll to bring peace and security to all the remote southern reaches, responding to such heinous crimes like littering, protesting and open expression of political thought. That's actually fine, makes it easy to find those who need rehabilitation so it is known where the next heavy duty military equipment will be going.

Little colts now have a new tank toy with the emerging of the Purifier siege vehicle (mark II). To be honest this is a second model designed under the smart watch of Twili ... I mean Dawn Sparkle. It's a shame that the most faithful student of her Divine Majesty had to oversee the project so closely, but what can you do when the land is full of incompetent foals who lack common sense, among other things.

The first model was Empress's little big pet project. The appointed ponies were charged with creating "the perfect war carriage, bearing all ways of conquering". Deciphering this statement proved very difficult, so the billion bit project became a tank which theoretically can do everything.
The first Purifier model "Persistent Pounder" was a giant machine 2 times bigger than the current one. It's facilities included loads of guns (including the biggest ever made), missiles (fireworks), flamethrowers and other support compartments. It was to serve as artillery, tank, troop transport, command centre, observation post, fancy field kitchen and Empress's bedroom (only facility precisely and clearly required by the Empress).
The Purifier finally emerged, massive and imposing and with it, the greatest tragedy of Equestrian engineering. It became clear the thing is too large to pass the roads of populated areas around Solaropolis factories. After demolition helped to provide enough of a wide passage for the tank, the celebration of this event became a bit awkward. Nevertheless, the crew remained faithful. Despite it's very slow speed, the sheer awesomeness of internal weaponry and excitement for battle were too strong.
However, during a horrible coincidence, lady Rarity's carriage was arriving for a fashion inspection to see whether the aesthetic side of the project was given enough attention. But the main thing that was given attention at the time seemed to be her own beauty. When the crew was notified of her presence, everypony (even mares) rushed to see her to the right side of the tank. At that moment, the laws of physics proved firm unlike the colossal vehicle which began to fall on it's side due to the sudden shift of weight. The horror of the moment was explicitly expressed by poor lady Rarity's shriek. She would have been squished as the movable fortress descended upon her if officer Apple Jack was not present to rescue her (by catching Rarity with a lasso and swiftly smashing her into the safety of a nearby muddy puddle).

The outrage was reflected during Wise Empress's unannounced inspection of Department of combat science. The only ones not indisposed by severe burns were those on lunch break as the Alicorn already quenched her rage while blasting through the rest of the complex when she reached the cafeteria.
And she truly is wise to have done that, for the remaining staff was well enough to be hoofed over under the direction of Dawn Sparkle. Her close relation with the Empress was to ensure the correct execution of the dream war carriage, along with the fact that all the scientists had to choose which limb would be removed from their body should they fail again.
Fortunately for all the involved brainpower, the first instance of Purifier mark II "Dawnie's Methodical Sun Sparkler" was finished with half the cost, this time using actual roads to travel. It's still as slow as Rarity's noble banquets but when you still have the biggest gun of Equestria with supreme range, you have plenty of things to do while approaching the front lines.
Many of the facilities have been removed. The Empress's bedroom has of course been left inside to the inconvenience of transport space for common troops. Many of the guns were deemed unnecessary, since other branches of the military should have some fun as well. The driver actually can't see where he's turning. He only receives messages about directions while sitting in his comfortable seat. Ponies appear to have some restraints from speeding up when there is an obstacle in their way. Making the driver partially blind prevents this phenomena, a crucial circumstance when rolling over whatever remained of opposing forces.
The most dangerous weakness so far seems to be the presence of upper deck which is completely open and serves as a position for sharpshooters and observers. The problem is a rogue pegasi can fly inside and find a stockpile of ammunition. Providing he has low value for his own life, the crew has about 4 seconds to pray for Solar Flare before the whole thing pops open as a manually armed shell fulfils it's purpose. Bless the Sun the spaces inside are quiet tight. The intruding pegasi is sure to come over somepony who will convince him about the value of life and what a foalish thing it would be to blow himself up.

There is not much place for negotiation in these combat situations. Honestly, if you had a division of tanks, including the newest metal beast, surrounding a village would you go and say: "Hey can you maybe lower your head a little to honour this sun emblem and regularly contribute some bits? We bring you prosperity you know, fine roads, better pegasi weather control, etc." Of course not, you come in, you say: "YIELD OR B**KING DIEEEEEEEEEE."
Or much rather you scream it from the distance as a proper trajectory of the upcoming bombardment is calculated.
