This is the first in a long series of fancy letters I am sending my beloved, who leaves every summer to visit his mother's side of the family. Right now he's in England; later in the summer he'll be in Tennessee.This is the finished "base" of the letter, which I will be writing on. No, you don't get to see it with the writing on it; I would share, but it's personal stuff.
I'm very pleased with how this turned out; I haven't worked with collage in a loooong time. Last time I tried I wasn't very good at it, either.
Apologies for poor-quality scan, my scanner sucks.

Firstly, may I just say that I adore the fact you write letters. It seems like such a more memorable, personal way of communication than email. Secondly, this is a gorgeous collage. The colors go very well together.

I agree with you about letters. I think it's sad that so few people send them any more. On the other hand, the Postal Service remains the one government branch that the public trusts to do its job well (according to polls), so some people must still be writing.
I think the reason I prefer letters is that you can keep them and take them out and hold them and smell them and re-read them. You can keep an e-mail, but you can't feel it. It's somehow colder, less intimate and real, than a letter.

I have multiple forms of synesthesia, such as text-sound, smell, personality, color; music-animated swirls of color; noise-flash of color. That's about all I can list. Just imagine if I tried talking about this 10 years ago--people would have thought I was completely nuts! After all, I do have an active imagination, but it doesn't overpower reality.

Great! I think you were really happy when doing so. It's well-designed. BTW, did you use glue to paste those things on the paper?

I used something called "Zip Dry Paper Glue", which smells like rubber cement. Normal Elmer's glue or tacky glue seep through the paper and can leave dark marks on the page everywhere you use them. This special glue seems to work well, though.
