Haha, even the nightclub has to keep it modest as far as storefront advertising is concerned. Mr. Alfred Skulstad should be called to discipline though, such big letters, pure overkill - blinding!

I assume it's a protected heritage kind of site. Are there lots of American, Japanese and, increasingly, Chinese people flocking around it during the summer? I mean, is it on their todo list when they decide to "do" Europe?

yes, and there was a lot of german and spanish spoken too. it is pretty impossible to get around there in the summer. (it's ok only in the small hours)
there are ships moving up and down along the coast, and spewing out huge hoards of tourists that have a day to crawl around the town, and then get on the ship again, and continue to the next stop.

Sounds like Venice, where they're apparently getting quite fed up with the whole cruise business. "Tourism destroys more than you care for"

i haven't heard the norwegeans complaining. but the tourists (including myself) do. there was a newspaper article about a german tourist who said that the norwegian fjords are lovely, but there are too many tourists around - she could have stayed at home to reduce the number of tourists
