Yeah, and I bet if they weren't made in such a horrible way they could have been some nice platform games.

Imagine if the gameplay was good, but they still had those amusingly awful cutscenes. I think that'd make a great game! XD

Lol I remember I didn't get him in my encyclopedia on my first encounter with him, so I went to the wreck of the Emerald Lady where he, found him, chase him, and guess what he did? He swam out of the boundaries of which I could swim , so when I went to go get him it kept saying, "The current's too strong to go any farther" and I was like, "You son of a..."

He's the reason I haven't completed my encyclopedia yet. -.- Ass.
I always liked what Hayako said to me in the castle as he swims by the windows. "Thanatos seems to have taken a liking to you..." And yes, the Zelda reference is the bomb. xD
Leviathan is my other favorite since it's funny that the programmers don't call him Moby Dick for copyright reasons. xD

Sadly it's impossible to get his entry without getting beaten by him...
I still have to get in the castle with her, gotta find time! Maybe Thanatos might respect you...? "Not in the pit! IT BURRRRNNNSSS!!!" XD
Believe it or not, I was actually more scared of the Leviathan than Thanatos! Because of the surprise, I guess.

I usually just sit on the big pillar that Thanatos swims right in front of, blowing my whistle at him. xD He never seems to care unless I get near his wreck, lol.
My favorite legendary is the Black Harbinger though. He's absolutely gorgeous.

Supertacularific In reply to lskaori [2010-12-05 20:54:23 +0000 UTC]
So much scarier than the one in the sequel. The one in the first was large and practically open, there was more hidden areas to find...it was great. I always loved trying to swim around and find the giant squid. In the sequel, it's always in the same spot. Where's the fun in that?

Firstly, thank you for the double fave and for the explanation of the name, it's been a while since I looked into mythical greek stuff and I just followed what his description said on game.
Probably the Orca partner should be named such a way, but I doubt there's actually something that might held Thanatos (the shark XP) at bay.

this is a super late comment to this--i was looking for screencaps of thanatos cause i love and fear him at the same time--and i don't know if anyone's mentioned this or not in all the other comments here BUT! the orca doesn't scare any shark at all xD I HAVE TRIED! i thought that, perhaps, since orcas are an apex predator that the creators MIGHT take that into consideration...but no, thanatos--and every other shark--will still smack you into oblivion xD

lskaori In reply to icedpoison [2010-10-12 08:53:58 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! Looks like Thanatos got many fans out there XD Probably the orca doesn't scare any sharks off because it's still a young one? I knew from the start I couldn't trust the little guy for keeping them at bay.

icedpoison In reply to lskaori [2010-10-12 21:25:30 +0000 UTC]
that's what i was thinking, cause it's just a lil orca the sharks are all 'lol wut?'. but i think even if it was a big one the creators probably wouldn't take that into account cause i mean...thanatos looks to be about 5 times bigger than any of the orcas anyway lol! also, from one endless ocean fan to another, i need to ask someone that's played the game--why is the tiger shark about 8 times bigger than the great white when you see them side by side? >> tiger sharks are smaller than great white sharks and i think it's the biggest thing that's been bothering me about the game xD other than the fact the sharks aren't scared by the orca.

lskaori In reply to icedpoison [2010-10-12 21:34:08 +0000 UTC]
If they used an adult orca probably it would have got stuck into narrow passages like the caves or the temple's corridors. Thanatos, like Magu Tapa is probably based on the shark of Jaws, which was massive already (but once they found a female of that size, scary!) I've never quite understood that either, maybe it's because it's a single one while the great whites are in two large packs? Maybe Thanatos isn't afraid because he can outsmart them, he can outsmart humans after all.

Just think if you could befriend a sperm whale! XD It could be, but not all the proportions in the game are the same than in real life, the false killer whale is a lot bigger than the one you see in the game for example. Thanatos is the king of grecian seas!

omg, that'd be the most awesome thing in life xD could you imagine training that thing? as soon as it jumps its already hitting like...50 feet xD and yeah, i didn't expect them to be particularly accurate, and it's not like it bothers me or anything, i was just confused for a while lol. it'd be kinda terrifyingly awesome if thanatos was like...real >> but haha, it's good to see there are some awesome fans of this game out there, i don't come across many that know if it, let alone have played it ^^

lskaori In reply to icedpoison [2010-10-14 08:55:14 +0000 UTC]
You'll have to stay away from Nineball Island for the training XD It's already accurate enough with all the countless animals out there. If he or Magu Tapa were real maybe finning would have stopped once for all. Yeah, it's rare to find fans of the game maybe because isn't a popular gender.

After the porpoise you get the albino bottle nose dolphin. And the river dolphin is the third to last, it's needed for find another leggendary.

Yeah, and it can sense coins!
Lemme try to remember... when the friend of all animals (forgot his name, he's the bandana guy) tells you about an albino dolphin, you should go to the Ciceros Trait, at the X shaped rocks.
Yeah, Thanatos is patrolling the castle apparently. Looks like he doesn't want to tear you to shreds while you're in the castle, those windows look so frail...

Uhm... maybe he should come after you release a certain amount of animals from the private bay or maybe it depends of how many you heal. What does it says in the english version?
Well, I managed to "interact" with him, it requires you to get hit by him and then for a few seconds you can click on him and take a photo without risks.

Nothing stops you from equipping the bay and then returning some time later, it gradually gets life depending of what you put in it.
He really does dislike divers. The first time I've tried to sedate all his underlings, but at the end I said "the hell with it!" And charged straight forward.
I doubt he'll be actracted by pellets, we need fresh meat!

You go in there and on the screen you should get instruction like "Press 1 for item placing" and such, either that or you find the instructions on the bookled on the table on Nineball Island.
I managed to get a partial profile.

Oh, so like the aquarium?
I once managed to get a great picture of a tiger shark.... I snapped the shot right as it attacked me! And another shot right as it was turning to attack, so I got a big lump of gills and scaly skin in that pic. :\

I find the aquarium very fun, personally. ^^ Though I've never tested if the dangerous animals in it will attack you.... Though the caiman I had in the annex did not attack.
Haha, I used to use the pulsar all the time. I never do it anymore. I just let myself get attacked. XD And I love those spectacled caimans, though it's hard to tell which ones will attack and which ones are docile. Generally, if they have young, they'll attack. Right?

Yes, only the ones with babies do attack you. Also, you unlock an archievement if you get attacked several times.
