Got frustrated with this one, so I decided to take the colors in a dramatically different direction than planned. Hurray neon!

Very nice design. Nice to see that the work paid off. If I can ask,where did you get the design of the horns? Also, out of curiosity, why is this character so unfriendly?

Oh the horns? Honestly they just sort of happened... I can't think of any animals off of the top of my head that have horns like that. They started as just a single recurve and looked boring so a put a branch on them.
Shiazzkri here is a flat out sociopath. Partly due to her upbringing in the cult of the Machine (she has fey lineage and so the constant inescapable exposure to the giant machine weaving throughout the complex drove her a bit mad) and an inability to connect with her peers.

Fortunately they're easier to explain. The world we were playing in (DnD based world kind of affair) was experiencing the very beginnings of mechanical technology being developed. This particular cult claims to have discovered the machine, out in the woodlands, and built their complex around it, while expanding the clockwork and pipes throughout. They're more or less what you'd expect from a bunch of nutjobs; Shiazzkri and her fellow acolytes were intended as sacrifices, to be bled out on an altar to feed the machine. She decided to feed the elders to the grinding gears instead.

Hmm.... the sketch for this one took a few hours on and off, final sketchwork and lineart probably four hours, colors maybe six or so....? Sorry I don't time myself real well and this piece is from a few months back. I'd guess about 10-15 hours is a good estimate

I see ! Generally, I take about 5 hours to draw a fully colored digital painting including detailed background but in a medium size. 10 hours or more for a big picture ( )

Dayum, it's been a while since I've seen greens being used this effectively. Very very sleek and well done. Frustration or not, I hope you found the result worth it because I sure find it to be vexingly beautiful!
I think it's the dynamic flowing pose coupled with the simple, yet atmospheric background. Creates the aura of fleeting wonder.

Hah, all the time! Not really "frustration", though it's happened lots. Basically, I find it always helps to take a small break from doing the piece, and then coming back to it later with a refreshed mind. Lets you spot errors and gremlins that you would have otherwise not spotted due to tunnel-vision.
