wow thank you so much! tbh i think it's the pencils, i thought i was running out of those pencils i used there and got another set that were more professional looking but they didn't work well at all, these "early learning center" pencils like cheap kids ones, but they're really bright and colourful so they work
and thank you, i spent a lot longer on the hair since it was the most difficult, glad it worked out well though

you're welcome. yeah, i've only ever used those Crayola pencils, so i didn't know you could get ones that looked different on paper. maybe i'll look around, see what i can find. i bet i'll still fail at the 3D thing, though. (dramatic sobbing.) oh well.

i think crayola are ok aswell though maybe try thicker paper, sometimes printer paper can be really annoying if you use that i'd just do what you said - look around til you find ones you like - i prefer the waxy ones like crayola and stuff - they have brighter colours and i bet you won't fail at the 3D thing! i failed the first time but the more you practice the easier it is just make sure to use lots of tone - i know loads of people say that, but basically don't be afraid of using too much dark colours - i used a lot of black - even on the face but it works to make it 3D looking

i'll try that. i've found a bunch of different paper at home, so this weekend i can experiment with it and see what works best! and it's true, people have told me i need to use more dark colors when shading. maybe that's what the pics needed, more tones. thanks for the advice!

yay! good! just do a whole bunch of experiments and you'll find ones you like and no problem! just if there is a color that looks black, draw it black, some people say use brown and stuff but if you basically color as you see it then it looks more 3d

i agree. i was bored the other day, so i started practicing with colored pencils. the only problem was, there was no black, so i used brown, and it just didn't look complete when i was done. i'm gonna find some black tomorrow and see if i can fix it. this may sound odd, but do you think it's possible to use markers at certain times along with colored pencils? because i may have to try that.

damn i hate that! i always use up the black first and can't ever find another one when i need it! yeah i've used pen a couple of times though it's probably better to have a really thin pen or one that slightly doesn't work... if that makes sense - so you can blend them easily, otherwise it looks weird but yeah i used pen in this pic >> [link] on the cape thing and the hair and around the face it depends what kind of effect you want, if you want more realistic - go for a pen that blends well, if more cartoony, you can use harsh edges and stuff and it still looks fine

(lol)i never have enough black! but yeah, that actually makes perfect sense. and i'm in luck-i have a couple pens that would probably work, since they're both thin and one's kind of drying out.
cool pic of the pharaoh, by the way! he seems really difficult to draw, although i think one person said his hair wasn't so bad. i like the detail!

great! those "half-dead" pens often work better than the normal ones

and thank you! i know, sometimes he is difficult to draw, but depending on how you draw him he can be really easy - like if you draw him in the yugioh style, he's really easy, but if you try to draw him realistically it's hard to get the hair to look like it fits

yeah, i imagine he's a lot harder to draw realistically. i've never actually tried, but i have a friend who is really into the show, who draws him a lot. we've debated on what he'd look like exactly, if he were real, and the topic that comes up the most is his hair.that one thing we just can't settle on...

yeah i've often wondered that too and the hair is the thing i always get stuck on imagining, i think it's the style of drawing, yugioh people sometimes have hair i don't understand but i suppose the blond fringe things he has are pretty simple just how on earth does he get the rest of his hair like that!!!!??

i do not know. someone suggested that he uses lots of hair gel, but i'm not sure. and then i've always wondered about the other colors, like that bit of purple. is that natural? because i'm not quite sure it's possible to have that color hair without dyeing it. (of course, if someone did have that color naturally, it would be...pretty amazing, i guess.)

yeah that's probably the only way he'd get hair like that and yeah that weird purple bit always does confuse me i suppose most anime characters do have crazy natural hair colours - like green and blue and stuff but in real life he would definitely have to dye it like that though i don't know how he has black hair mostly but has a blonde fringe yeah if i saw a person with that hairstyle in real life AND it was natural i might faint

i'd faint too! or i'd just stare and it would be very awkward. i'm trying to think of an answer for the blonde fringe, and i've got nothing. someone actually asked me about edward cullen's hair once. they wondered how he made it stand up without a lot of hair gel. i just said, "he uses a lot of hair gel." at least i'd think he would.

yeah he really does just use a LOT of hairgel but i think he's supposed to have more of a messy look so i dunno why they made him like that in the film (well in the first film at least )

Me neither. in the books it says his hair is kind of touseled, which it kinda does in these last 2 movies. it's more just...i don't know, spiked(?) in the first one. (i actually thought that looked really good. i don't know why.) either way, though, probably a lot of hair gel!

yeah! tousled!! , that was the word yeah i thought his hair looked more.... err... edwardy in the recent films, he looked kinda like elvis in the first one but it still looked good which was weird but yeah - a lot of hair gel!

yes, it was more edwardy. sometimes i would look at his hair (in the first movie) and think it was wierd that i liked it so much, cuz i'm not really into the whole elvis thing, personally. i think the difference is that his hair is shorter in these other ones. didn't he shave his head at one point between movies?

yeah i know , i did that too, and i hate elvis style hair normally but it actually looked alright on him
yeah it is much shorter now and i think he did cut it, like REALLY short, i remember pics thinking "i usually hate this hairstyle too but it doesn't look too bad on him"
i haven't seen "remember me" but his hair looked cool in those adverts - very edwardy though he wasn't even playing edward

i agree. and i think he's one of those people who can pull off just about any hairstyle, all things considered. i haven't seen Remember Me, either, but i kind of want to. have you seen The Haunted Airman? his hair is shorter there and not really edwardy. i think he still looks pretty good, although it's not his best style.

oh ... yeah i dunno i'm sure it was out before eclipse though - and i think it was out before new moon aswell... anyway it's no where near as well known as eclipse and stuff and you can find them online if you look hard enough so i'm pretty sure someone has it online

oh, you're right, it is quite a bit older. that kind of stuff is typically easier to find than ones barely out of the theater. maybe i'll look for it later today. as for eclipse...3 more days!(cheering again)
only problem for me is that i'm not allowed to get it right away. (ever-so-slightly depressed)and this may be my favorite of the movies so far! (overly dramatic)oh well, some day....

yeah, quite a lot of films are out on youtube and stuff, and if you can't find it there you can try googling for it, usually a good link will come up quickly, but otherwise if you keep searching i'm sure you'll find it

lol i know, i usually have to wait at least a week or two before i actually get a new DVD, unless i go into town by myself and get it with my own money - sometimes if it's a film my mum likes she'll get it with her money - like toy story 3 , but she always buys them when they're on deals and stuff in supermarkets

(i can be so slow...) and i've been really busy with holiday stuff, but, yay! eclipse is out now and my dad has actually agreed to let me get it! he prefers to order things off the internet, though, so i'll have to wait a few weeks. now it's just a matter of whether or not i can handle the suspense. so, does your mom want you to wait until it's on sale then?

yeah though my mum's a huge technophobe so i doubt she'd ever go online long enough to find a website she "trusts" LOL omg same!! though NO ONE can ever find anything to buy for me! my mum keeps asking me "what do you want?" and i can never think of anything - she wants to get me one "big" present coz my sis wants a camera, so she kept asking if i wanted a new phone or my own camera when i never have any need for any of them and my phone works fine just now even though it's really old lol so now if i think of any little things i want i tell my mum - so instead of one big present i'm getting lotsa little ones and i just asked for eclipse there and my mum nodded! BD so yeah, hopefully in about a week....

honestly, i can't say i blame her. if i'm ever going to buy something, i'd rather just go to the store. after all, it's a nice way to get out of the house sometimes. wow, it's the same for me, too! i mean, for a while, my dad just tried to get me one big present, but then i found all these little things i wanted, so...
i like it best that way, because there's just more to do afterwards (for me, anyway.) i'm also hoping that eclipse will come around christmas time. its been long enough that i know i'll get it...within my lifetime...but i no longer know when. like you said, hopefully soon...

lol yeah xD i like lots of little ones better too quantity over quality! xD yeah coz if i can get on the computer i can keep myself busy for hours drawing or youtube or dA etc. but other wise i've only got the TV (when nothing i want to watch is on) and my playstation and dvds, so i usually just ask for games and dvds for christmas
aww i hope you get it soon! you might be able to check when you'll get it if you ordered of amazon they usually tell you how long it will take (roughly) and some sites even have a kind of tracking thing that lets you see where it is (i think some do anyway )

so true, so true. and yes, quantity over quality! i read a lot, and sometimes i write, too,(along with drawing!) so i'm always satisfied to get...well, anything that enables me to do those things. actually, i got some great reading material for christmas, along with... get this...

ECLIPSE! (super dramatic, yes.) so i've been really happy recently, very fangirl-ish. i'm waiting for someone within the household to, like, strangle me or something lol!

yay! it was good i got eclipse too xD! and a ps3 game i wanted though i didn't really know what to ask for so i ended up getting typical christmas things like a dressing gown and socks (cool socks though ) and also a hot water bottle shaped like a cat xD he's called billie (i'm not just saying that, he actually is called billie on the label )

yay! lol it is x3 the actual water bottle's not shaped like a cat - it's the fluffy covering thing that is xD it doubles as a pyjama case i think (and a cuddley toy but it doesn't say that on the label xD)

oh, well, still new to me! wow. i sympathize. i have finals in 3 weeks apparently, and i'm no ready, either. i have all this work i haven't turned in (or done, for that matter) so i've gone from full panic mode to just shutting down and saying "whatever happens, happens." (today was my first day back from break, so i'm rather exhausted. couldn't sleep.)

what are prelims? i haven't heard of those before. (yeah, there's a lot i don't know, especially today lol!) the week seemed to go by kind of slowly, although one person said she thought it was quick. but yes, i've had my moments where i didn't think i'd stay concious very long! my dad's been hastling me about missing work, so that in itself can take a lot out of me.

oh prelims are just preliminary exams before our finals - the school organise the prelims while the SQA (scottish qualifications authority) oranise the finals. the prelims are just used to let us get used to the feel of an exam before the actual one though they can use the results from the prelims for appeals if we do bad in the finals, so they are kind of important. appeals are just where people can get a better result (as in if someone has a really bad day in the actual exam and gets just a C but the whole year and in the prelims they get an A, then they can appeal and maybe get a better mark )

yeah i think this week's been slow as hell lol this week i probably got about 6 hours sleep per night max xD so i was almost holding my eyes open in class! xD
yeah i hate catching up on work TT-TT
