Harris Nolan was a prize winning boxer. On the way home from one of the biggest fights of his career, he was randomly abducted along with twenty other civilians. They were kidnapped by a gang of henchmen who imprisoned them in a laboratory. The megalomaniac would-be-conqueror, Manic planned to use the random civilians to inhabit battle suits after being brainwashed. Basically to use as disposable walking mind controlled assassin bots.
As Harris was being taken to his suit, he was able to break free, evading the guards and eventually hiding in one of the numerous laboratories. He encountered a scientist, who seemed to have been held against his will as well. The henchmen were on the way, the scientist claimed they would kill them both. He convinced Harris to take an experimental injection. Not seeing any other way to survive, Harris took the injection. It mutated him in to a human with the attributes of a hornet. Wings sprouted, his skin hardened like a hornet's carapace and he instinctively began to propel tiny stingers from his hands.
Finding that he was able to withstand the henchmen's laser blasts and physically overpowered them, he flew the scientist to safety and returned to destroy the lab after freeing the other civilians.
Enjoying his newfound abilities he continued to fight crime, keeping Manic's organization in his sights. He teamed-up with many other heroes over the years and eventually discovered more abilities gained from the experimental drug. Including the ability to shrink at will.
How's that? I just made it up, but it's official!

Yeah, Creeper was always one of my faves. I guess you could say Corkscrew is a Creeper/Plastic Man mix. With a little Martian MAnhunter coloring!

Once again, an excellent set of original goody heroes. What's this blokes Soil's powers? His costume is intriguing...

HAHAHA! Ask about ANYBODY else and I am not embarrassed to tell you. Actually I am fairly certain he was going to be a Green Lanternish character. The idea was that he controlled soil and used it much like their green light. But if I had used real soil, obviously it wouldn't be transparent. So no much thought put back into that concept, maybe it's the essence of soil that gives him the powers.
Thanks man!
