Happy Halloween everyone! If every major holiday has its classic character, then Halloween should be no exception. Christmas has Santa Claus, Easter has that Bunny, and so the night All Hallow's Eve should have Mr Irving's Headless Horseman (or Jack Skellington. Either way). HH does deserve the title of being the most badass holiday character. This piece will hopefully be my first portrait of the guy, and it's based off three main pieces of art. The first is obviously "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The second is the Disney cartoon based off of it. Yes, I liked Tim Burton's movie too, but every little kid out there must have peed his pants when he first saw the Horseman appear in that cartoon. If you didn't, then you officially have no soul. The third is the song "Roland the Headless Thomspon Gunner" by Warren Zevon. It's not a scary, spooky song (at least not to me) but the concept of a lone undead psycho with a machine gun and nothing above the neck just reminded me of old HH. You got to admit that a Thompson machine gun would be more effective than a flaming pumpkin anyway. On another note, I own that cavalry saber on HH's belt, and since I draw Thompson guns so often I may need one or a replica at some point.
