Alternate title: Lugia's cosmic fartLugia, Father Ocean, Keeper of harmony and restorer of balance, has awoken from his eon long slumber to scare the shit out of some random sailors
I decided to do a few entries of the December Draw a Pokemon a day challenge. Day 9- Favorite Flying type, can you guess who that is
I went really, really overboard with the composition here, but I think I'm learning things about light and color. I have way too many pieces with blue color palettes, I really need to break out of my comfort zone
...Also in case you were interested in my favorite pokemon:
Day 1-Bug: Scolipede
Day 2-Dark:Krookodile
Day 3- Dragon: Dragonite/Noivern
Day 4-Electric:Raichu
Day 5-Fairy: Sylveon
Day 6-Fighting: Hitmonchan(if you don't think a boxer pokemon in a purple miniskirt is the raddest thing ever than you can just get out)
Day 7-Fire: Arcanine
Day 8-Flying: Lugia

Love it but I think the water looks weird.

How so? Please be specific. The background ocean, the big splash where he's coming out of the ocean, or the water streaming off his body?
If you're talking about the splash...yeah, it looks a little weird. I probably should have mad it clearer that the water is glowing because of his psychic power stuff.
If you're talking about the streaming water, yep, I had NO comprehension of the physics of water. I considered removing the water streams but thy make the composition so much more dynamic. There should be a lot more sea spray. I've never really painted water on this scale before, if you've done it before and have any tips, that'd be great. :>

Sorry for not being specific enough, um..
But yeah it's the splash and the droplets from his wings. Those look more like snow. The splash itself looks more milky and solid that what water would be and i think it's got more to do with the shape of the splash water than it's color or texture. Tohugh you should paint in the direction that the water is going. Water flows and you're brush should follow that direction even if it seems very erratic The spray from his wings should not be the only one either. like water will collide on itself too and will cause sprays too. so you may want to add more of that around the surface where he's coming out from..
But all that advice is from what I can only assume will work. I've never really done anything recent with water and much less splashes. I don't know how much of it will help especially since i don't think I offered anything new to you

Oh geez, sorry for late reply. My wifi's been iffy. I agree with everything you said, and "milky" describes the water perfectly. I was thinking it looked too gelatinous, too solid. I looked around at real life examples and illustrations and it turns out water sort of explodes into droplets and spray when stuff pops out of it. I probably could have done more to make his skin look wet too. Ah, well.
