I don't care what anyone says about whatever problems and weirdness they found in this movie; this is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen in my life, if only for the soundtrack alone (which you definitely need to hear; check out the first track here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0-lu9… ). As far as modern composers go, James Newton Howard is on my list next to Hans Zimmer; I hear the voice of God in their music. That could also be a reason I had to break my "Never use Prince of Egypt characters" rule (again), along with the fact that 1. child Aaron is only seen once in the whole movie, 2. Aaron the first High Priest as a child is great to use for little Joey, who can see things other people can't in everyday, ordinary things, and 3. I ran out of Disney kids. I was hesitant about using Maurice for Cleveland, but I think it works okay; and I couldn't find anyone else who really fit the type. With its mythological base, Lady in the Water has thousands of new meanings, analogies, and messages for those of us who can hear the call, but if you thought Mr. Shyamalan was being narcissistic by casting himself as the "Chosen One," just know that this movie was not made for you; it was for his daughters based on the bedtime stories he told them when they were little. If you haven't seen this movie, watch it, and be ready for M. Night Shyamalan-ness; thank you for your support!
