New story ?! Sounds interesting. I'll keep an eye on your gallery !

As a first frame, it's pretty much promising. Are they departing or landing ? Why are they travelling ? Who are they ? Too many questions.Β

I believe the water could beneficiate some waves and reflections, but other than that, it looks pretty neat.

This is a series I did a couple years ago. Our discussions about narrative and series reminded me I had never posted this series here. I've scheduled for a page a day until the series is complete. I hope it is able to hold your interest.

I'm breaking a rule here but to frame what you can expect. This image is two carefree friends without a worry in the world. They live by the sea and are quite capable on their own,

You are correct. This series was from a time when I had just started 3D rendering. I picked up some of those skills later but did not return to this series. Thank you

Hmm... I see !
I'm sure it will hold my interest ! You don't post too often, so that's a nice occasion to hear a bit from you.

oooh no you broke DA RULE
(I'm kidding !)

I see. Why carefree though ? Why did you choose to specify that trait of personality, specifically ?

Oooh, it explains it then ! Glad you got the skills later on !

I have not accomplished much in my art lately. I was working on an idea in the fall but it was photos from outside and that got sidelined for winter. I also have a little studio in the back of the house but I don't heat it so in winter I don't spend a lot of time in it during the winter

As the series progresses I hope you will see the contrast between this scene where they are on the water enjoying themselves and later where thing get more complicated.

Will you start working on new stuff now that spring is back ?

Hmmmm... Interesting. I'm a bit divided about what to think of the second and third frames, to be honest. Is the guy in the 3rd one looking at the fire or has he started it ?

Yes, the weather just needs to get a little more dependable.

Their carefree days ended. I can see now I needed an additional page before these to to help setup the relationship between the boy, the girl and the woman. I frame three the boy is sad and that is not because of his bad haircut. I hope that helps you in the right direction without explaining too much.

Good to hear that ! Will stay tuned !

Hmmm.... I do believe the rupture between frame #1 and #2 was a bit too violent. Nothing links both images, so it's a bit hard to follow, if you see what I mean.Β

Maybe everything will make sense at the end of the story, tho.
And no need to explain. I do think you're open to any kind of "story" that I can make up with your pieces, aren't you ? Or would you say finding the right story is important, here ?

I do know what you mean. It was one of those things where I knew too much to see what I was missing. Also at the time I did this series my skills and computer were not so good each image in the series took well over a week to find/make content, setup and render. That also caused me to economize.

You are free to find your own story in the series. I will be interested to hear the story you have for the images. I doΒ  think it would be nice if your story paralleled mine because then I'd feel I was skilled at tell in the story. Do you feel that way too about your art?

"It was one of those things where I knew too much to see what I was missing."
What do you mean ?

I'll let you know when all the pictures are posted

"Do you feel that way too about your art?"
Not really. Because I don't want to share a specific message. So I don't care what comes out of my art, as long as something does come out. But if you feel this way, maybe it means you want to share something specific ?

I think this is why writers have editors. Some of the creative processes take so long, in a narrative the characters become familiar so it can be forgotten that the audience doesn't have the same experience.

Much of my art is made with a specific idea in mind and I guess I do hope that the viewers find something close in it.

Oooh, I see what you mean ! Sometimes it gets hard to see the bigger picture.

I see. I believe we've already tackled this idea. I think I'm missing something (just like you, it seems !) but can't find what. So for now, the debate is closed, I guess.
