Next picture in my illustration series, based on Juliet Marillier's book "Daughter of the Forest".This is the part where Sorcha has just been raped, and is now hiding in her little cave.

I love her hair and the composition. Poor Sorcha...this scene always stayed with me as one of the most traumatic events Marillier ever wrote for her characters. Such a fine book, Daughter of the Forest.

Yes, I agree with you on that. Though I think the scene was one of the more necessary ingredients in making the story believable. It would have seemed very strange if Marillier hadn't put at least some traumatic and terrible events into the story. It sort of makes sense, even though it is horrible of course. If you get my meaning? ^^
