Description WARNING, VERY LONG TUTORIAL AHEAD!

Ok, so quite a few people were asking how I did the eyes and fur in this picture: (Which I've yet to finish, but there you can see a completed eye and a ready-to-be-completed eye next to each other)

So, I decided to do a tutorial! This is an eye tutorial, but also covers a bit about how I do fur too. Oh yeah, did I mention this is a looong tutorial?

I tried to make this basic so beginners can try too, but if you have any questions, then feel free to ask! Link me to your creations so I can see how they turned out! No credit needed.

Neat tutorial I just came across it n gave it a go on photoshop. It didn't come out 100% but it definitely gave me much better results when it comes to making eyes look realistic.

Great job

This is very good tutorial,it should help me later on.The way you've written it makes it seem quite straight forward, thank you.I have one dumb question...how do you get your colour chart up,i cant seem to find mine.I did say i was clueless, perhaps you can now see the magnitude of my cluelessness!:

Hehehe, no problem! Well, see where all your tools are? Down the bottom of the tool bar (which is on the left side of the screen), there are two small square boxes with their little corners overlapping. Those are your colour charts. Use the top box for your primary colour (that you are using in that moment of time) and the box behind is for your secondary colour (so you can switch quickly between the two).

Hope it helped!

Lol, thanks! I didn't go into too much detail about the fur, but this is pretty much how I do it with references for the direction the fur goes

Well, I don't have Photoshop, only GIMP, so it won't help me I don't have the money to pay for it and I doubt my mom would buy it for me

Lombax-World-Creator In reply to Blue-Bird-1494 [2010-05-10 00:49:09 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, I'm not sure how GIMP works, but does it have a blur and smudge tool? Can you feather the brush? If you can, then you could probably do it

Blue-Bird-1494 In reply to Lombax-World-Creator [2010-05-10 00:51:07 +0000 UTC]

I know it has Blur and Smudge tools, but I'm uncertain about whether or not it can feather the brush...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lombax-World-Creator In reply to Blue-Bird-1494 [2010-05-10 00:52:53 +0000 UTC]

Ok, it doesn't matter about the feather because basically, feathered is a blurred brush. So, you could try blurring your lines if you don't have feathered brushes
