The Collective created them for the Kai'Zari.

The Voraxus are used to instill fear in their subjects, and ensure loyalty. No one knows that the kai'zari created the voraxus. Lets say a colony gets the idea of becoming independent. Suddenly they're attacked by the voraxus, hundreds or thousands dead, and then suddenly the kai'zari fleet comes in and saves the day. Suddenly that colony doesn't want to be independent any more, they LOVE their kai'zari masters now.

I really like the high contrast set in 3 eye design I bet they get hella good peripheral vision. Do they fly, or is that more of an extended spinal thingy on the back?

This one has extended spinal thingies, but there are other variants that would have wings.

Most likely the Vrok. I'm working on the Collector and the Kai'Zari right now too.
