Wonderfully vinatge. She looks so beautiful and pretty - I love the way she's looking off into the distance or up at the sky, and her aran jumper and pearls and her subtle gentle earings all add to the old style effect you've created here ^^
Beautiful!! And wonderful editting on making the photo look old, espeically the top left hand corner
^^!

wow I do like the shot and the model, who fits the 1930s look, and I am simply astonished by what you did digitally. I am totally amazed! Composition is nice, colours great.... but how did you do the digital part?

Thanks for the comment!
It wasn't 'that' hard but if you go down a couple of comments you will see a simplified version of what I did digitally to the photo in response to panopticum

a tutorial maybe?

Thanks and thank you for the favourite on this.
A tutorial? Hmmm maybe I'll do a comprehensive tutorial one day when I have more time
The hardest thing with this and most other photos of this kind I find is creating the texture that gets dragged over onto the image. The cracks in the corners you see were made by getting an image of mine that I took of a cracked wall which I then converted to black and white then played very harshly with the brightness/contrast to get definate black cracks and making everything else white. Its simple to then just paint over any black cracks I didn't want with white paint. Depending on what photo you create the texture from, the cracks in the photo may be white and everything else black. In this case you can easily invert.
I then made the crack image sepia and dragged it onto the already sepia image of the girl. I really can't remember what layer blend I chose. I usually just go through them all to see which works better, possibly lighten? darken? multiply? Anyway once the cracks were done I just used the dodge and burn tools with one of the defualt sponge brushes to go over the image to create further texture, especially in the lower left corner. This takes a lot of trial and error.
Hmm I probably missed a whole heap but that's the simplified version. It's getting late and I need to sleep

shee ... a lot of info and good input.
i played once with textures which came from a photo.
i have to try the technique of photographing a crack and putting it in a photo. it doesnt only sound good but your use of it is the proof that it can be good.

thank you for revealing your secret. i ll have a go on that.

Love the timeless quality of this shot. It could have been shot almost anywhen in the past 80 years or so (or earlier if the girl was very daring )

i love the nostalgie you've given this photograph.

it leaves it with the sensation of a faded memory that's happened now. past and present brought together.

brilliantly done.

I really like how you can just barely see the pearls. When you do see them, it seems very special, like... like you just found them, or a lover gave them to you. I don't know, I'm having trouble articulating.

Also, I love her hair. I'm growing mine out to look like that. Not that you care, but still.

Oh wait, I see you posted it in manips. I'm sorry for the thoughtless comment before, but I'm so fixed right now on these effects because I've been experimenting too with these sepiatones and oldfashioned look on analogue photo's.

Hehe no problems. Yeah the original was shot on film and then I digitally altered it. I guess I was using the best of both worlds really

Thanks for the nice comment too
