A quiet night reading, scroll after scroll as the candle steadily grows shorter. His past is bathed in blood; he's not proud of it, but he is proud of who and what he is. Despite that, they only ever showed him one side of the world in their pursuit of making the world their own. He was their hammer, and it hardly served their interest to expose him to too much of the outside world even as they pushed him to be the pinnacle in every other field.

He is well aware that he has much to catch up on.

He reads histories of the world in his spare time. Everything and everything, to better understand the reality that has been kept from him. He absorbs the stories and images with a perfect mind, recalling each word in exact detail. But the world can only be understood on paper to an extent; life has to be lived to be learned. That part, he's still working on. Until then, he lights another candle and continues to read.

Created by the Vague Yet Menacing Secret Organization (with no name)™, Masamune was created to be absolutely perfect in every way; everything from military strategy to intelligence and general knowledge to practical skills, he's got it all. Except, in order to better control their perfect weapon, they carefully restricted his knowledge of the outside world, and kept the reality of their plans to themselves. After breaking free from their control, Masamune has come to know intimately that his knowledge of the world as it is is sorely lacking. The histories of countries, of people and places, of world events and every other little thing that helped make the world as it is today is a mystery to him.

So he reads. He reads any book or scroll he can get his hands on, no matter how seemingly insignificant. Each word is a little extra piece to the puzzle of the world that everyone else already seems to know by instinct, simply by virtue of been born into it. As far as experiencing it first hand goes, there are many who still fear or mistrust him, especially after everything he's done, so he hands back.

He's also afraid of the dark, especially cold and dark rooms (something he'll never reveal to anyone ever), so Masamune always has a candle or two burning at night.
