Description So, I've said on here before that I was playing around with the idea of there being a Ratigan sister...
I kind of? went through with it. It's complicated.

So instead of going through design and character changes, I'm going to give the rundown on Katrina Liddell first and then go into design detail.

By the time the movie starts, Katrina is the youngest out of all the Ratigan relatives. There's a firm seven years between her and the youngest brother Jim, and about nineteen years or so difference between her and the Professor.
After a tragedy with her parents happened when she was about eight, she was officially placed under Sebastian's care when he inherited her father's barony. Due to being the daughter of a baron and the ward of another, she was given a good education. Due to Sebastian knowing a certain army doctor and during her school days, she ended up becoming good friends with Annette Dawson, with the two still being friends long after. Of course, this is the Ratigan Family, peace knows no one, and Professor Ratigan becomes known as the Napolean of Crime, which Katrina isn't as surprised by as some would think, there were signs about the time, but she's still upset. The Ratigan brothers are the only family she grew up and with knows about, regardless of the large age differences. Padraic might have been the most distant from her compared to the others, but she still looked up to him since he seemed to be a lot more like her than the closer-in-age Jim or the father-like Sebastian. The whole thing causes even further tensions between Jim and Sebastian, ending with Jim declaring he's going to go on traveling to wherever. Jim's letters end up far and in between when he writes back to them.
Katrina certainly makes a few bad decisions of her own, mainly trying to track Padraic down to make sure he's alright before he sends her right back to Sebastian when a few of his allies start paying attention to her. But in the end, she tries to help make sure that what little family she has at least is in contact with and is somewhat happy.
She's not foolish enough to believe that Jim is entirely innocent of any of the crimes he just so happens to be cleared of, nor is she blind to Sebastian's hiring of some former military rodents among their staff. She's certainly not foolish to believe any of her suitors at their word, especially her latest beau Ichabod. Katrina has long been used to having others lie, regardless of what the intentions for lying may be. At least recently things seem to have been looking up. Katrina's question is just how long will it last?

Katrina is an intelligent woman, not a surprise given her relatives. She's also flirty and likes to keep a rather aloof demeanor, finding some fun in stringing along the suitors she ends up having in her young adulthood. However, much like Sebastian, she's rather a pessimistic person. She tries to enjoy life as it goes regardless, determined to not be cooped up and overthinking what thoughts she has on others and the situations in her own life. Between all four of them, Katrina is probably the most like the Professor personality wise, being charismatic, suave, and sophisticated but manipulative, though the latter is obviously aimed at her suitors, not completely innocent random civilians. It doesn't make her slight glee at seeing said suitors turn tail all that more moral though.
Along with all of this, she is family-oriented, as her deepest wish is for all four of them to be together as a family again. Not unlike her childhood friend Annette Dawson, she's not against romance (and in fact is all the more for it), but she's very hesitant about marriage. And not without reason, she might have been eight at the time, but she still very much remembers the Christmas her mother killed her father. She knows she'll have to eventually, especially given her social position, but she feels she has a right to be at least hesitant on that matter. So why not have some fun in the meantime?
Katrina's also very self-aware, not only of her own actions but also of the problem with obsession that seems to affect her family. The Professor with power, Jim with passion, Sebastian with stability, and even her own mother had an obsession with the Ratigan brothers' mother that Katrina was named after her. Katrina rather hopes she has a chance to avoid that problem, but that might once again be wishful thinking.

Design-wise, Katrina's color scheme was... interesting. She originally had the same purple the Professor has in his cravat and various shades of that. But when looking at all four of them side by side, I decided to adjust Katrina's purple to be closer to the blue side to contrast Professor Ratigan's more red-leaning purple. Aside from the Victorian era aspect in how pink was a boy's color and blue was a girl's color at the time, it feels also a good indication of one of the differences between Professor Ratigan and Katrina, being that the red is a color associated with rage and the Professor is, in the end, hiding a ton of rage behind of mask of charm and sophistication. Meanwhile, while Katrina acts vibrant, flirty, and more open, she's actually a lot more reserved and calm inside, which is something blue is associated with. It also pairs well with Sebastian and Jim, who do wear red and blue respectively. It's also why I made Katrina's hair with a few strands standing out.
Another thing of note, she's the smallest of the four. One part of it is gender, obviously, but another is that, like how I imagine with Professor Ratigan, she takes a bit more after her black rat side when it comes to height. Hence why she also has slightly bigger ears and eyes than the Ratigan brothers.
Since I made Jim and Sebastian have down-turned fur on their cheeks, I went with giving Katrina those more rounded shaped ones that Professor Ratigan has.
I also decided to make her blonde and it's more for story purposes than anything else. She's named after the Ratigans' mother, and I finally had come up with a design for her. Obviously, Katrina the younger here has a few key differences from her aunt, but I decided for that part of this family's story, it'd be best if she had the same hair color, or at least similar, to that aunt.
