But the model in the comics is the same as before. He's not matching the toy but he's got the ability...though how much ya wanna bet that when the Titans Returns arc appears, Optimus loses the Combiner power and it goes to a Battle Core version.

Yeah... However I was never a fan of the original Autobots becoming combiners; I just didn't like it lol.

I thought it was an interesting way to balance out the Decepticon combiners. They had at least one more combiner over the Autobots in G1. Autobots: Defensor, Superion, Computron. Decepticons: Devastator, Menasor, Predaking, Bruticus and Abominus. So in a way, it was to balance the numbers. Hence how there's now Sky Reign (made of Sky Lynx, Hound, Smokescreen, Wheeljack, Cosmos and Ratchet*If you take different toyline models*) and Betatron (Technically it's a fusion of Technobot Scattershot and the Optimus Maximus arm and leg components).

By the looks of it, Superion's new Combiner Wars form. Superion is the combined form of the Aerialbots. Sorry if I'm patronizing you if you already know this, I didn't know whether you just didn't recognize him or didn't know who he was.

He might also have been wondering about the smaller background character, that being Prowl, who would have been hard to make out even in the pictures larger form if it was viewed on a phone or a tablet.Β

Indeed it could have been either and goodness knows that Superion has had enough minor tweaks over the past 28 years that he could warrant some identifying for those who haven't kept up with all of his various looks. Β Β

Oh that Superion, so fickle with what trends he follows. He was going to jump on board that 90s neon bandwagon with the rest of the Combiners in G2, but Prime wasn't having any of that. XD
