A lot of you asked who would win in a duel between Kira and Bayde. Since Kira was stripped of Rikus' power, Altus/Bayde overpowered her. Sure, her head was clearer without Rikus controlling her, but she also wasn't trying to kill Bayde. That gave Altus the chance to push his advantage. If it had been a duel between a one-armed Bayde and Kira (without Godly influence), obviously Kira would have won. What Altus wasn't expecting, was Bayde's interference. Let's see where this goes from here...
Apparently it isn't clear, but that is Evelyn in that 6th panel. Bayde is only imagining her in Kira's place.

That wasn’t Bayde that first stabbed her. Altus was in control, but Kira’s resemblance to Lyn was a strong enough memory to allow him, however temporarily, to break Altus’s hold.
Let’s see if he can hold on to that, or if Altus will just overpower him again and thus slide further down the slippery slope towards Rikus.......

Exactly, something about the way Kira looked at him just then was enough to break Altus' control. As all of the readers know, Lyn and Kira bear a striking resemblance to one another.

Altus will not understand why Bayde stopped will he? Rikus on the other will not care that Bayde stopped, he'll only care that Kira is injured. That's kind of how I see the next page playing out.

That's right. Altus won't understand Bayde's hesitation, and that will be really apparent later in the Volume. As for Rikus, yes his primary concern will always be Kira. He is going to try and force Ari to help her on the next page.

That 6th panel isn't Kira, it's Evelyn. As Bayde stabbed her, he imagined Kira's mother (his sister) in her place. It was enough to break him out of his little trance.

Now I must imagine how conversations at the family reunion will go; "Hey sis, I wanted to honor your legacy and save humanity by trying to kill your kid." Evelyn's specific response can be left to imagination.
