I'm halfway through the Timothy Zahn book and this is has been my impression of their relationship so far.

To be more serious:
I like how Eli is written, like how he's undoubtedly a good person but still has moments of doubt and intrusive thoughts.
Such as the scenes where he briefly thinks about how Thrawn being harmed could lead to his own return to a normal life.
It makes him more realistic and relatable.
And it hurts a little to read Pryce's parts, because it's so weird seeing her have friends and a childhood (albeit briefly reminisced) and a family, in contrast to what we see of her in the Rebels show. And reading all her scenes knowing exactly when and how she dies.
It makes me think that there is a series of events that makes her walk that path, and those events are not nice.
