Description 12x24" 30x60cm acrylic on hardboard

This is far closer to my original vision than my first attempt. Whether it's due to the eighth try being the charm or the fact that I didn't have to deal with the tops of trees, I don't know. The book describes great ribbons of enclosed farm fields and tall trees watered by the underground canals of Mars, with roads running through them, which is the basis of these paintings. Greater Helium is noted for it's mile high scarlet tower.

The twin cities of Helium, very interesting.  I'm also fascinated by the fact that you use acrylics looking at your style of painting.  Do you frame your work?

I went from watercolors to oil and then on to acrylics. I can do everything I want with acrylics. I paint on 1/8" hardboard ("Masonite") that can be framed like stretched canvas but is thin enough to put under glass and matting. I've got two frames from my watercolor days that are matted for 45x60cm paper that I use to frame the big paintings under glass. Most paintings are slipped into one of those frames -- no need to tape them in, and then get their time on the wall until replaced by the next one I paint.

On most of my painting that's what you see. If it took more time, it's usually hidden underneath what you do see.
