As for this picture, I find it peculiarly haunting. I like the eye. It seems large and communicates the theme of the photograph well.

Actually, I disagree very much with tomrattle ehre. Art IS beauty, but even if you were hideous, your photography would still be very good. You can capture something you do of you, for you, and by you, that is lost in the making of something with other people. There is a beauty all it's own in individuality, and your art here seems to reflect that very thing.

With all due respect (your work is of the standard I'd never be able to achieve), why is it that all your pictures are just of you, with a bit of colour changed, and then a word written somewhere like "Majestic" or "Hidden" or "Alternative". That word "Secret" could be anything really.
I'm not trying to be offensive, but couldn't you be a bit more original in your photos without relying on your obvious beauty to draw in the punters?

The reason that most of my pictures are of me is pretty simple - I don't have the money or equipment to hire models for proper photoshoots. I enjoy photographing life... and expression - and people. Most of the things I'm trying to convey are pretty intimate emotions.. so it's hard to get someone else to emulate that through communicating my ideas anyway. The images containing me are frequently semi-autobiographical.. I feel something and I endevour to capture the essence of that emotion through photography. But the idea about art, Tom, is that you create something and offer to share it with other people.. with good art (not necessarily mine) you can see something and find something in it that you identify with... therefore putting "I feel like sex. When I think of sex, I think of PJ Harvey's 'This is love' in which the lyrics... 'you're my dirty little secret that I've never told' appear." totally devalues the point of art in that it prevents people from interpreting something how they want... and finding a way for it to mean something to them. Hence the fact that I DO use ambiguous titles.. it's pretty common practice in abstract type art. Incidentally, I've never used the titles 'hidden', 'majestic' or 'alternative' in any of my work... but thanks for the heads up.
This is my work. It means something to me. I wasn't trying to be negatively critical - I was just suggesting that you try other shots than just those of you. I mean, your work is very good - but it does seem like a lot of your pictures are very very similar. Of course, like you said, art is all about interpretation. That picture you have there doesn't suggest secrecy at all to me, but maybe I'm looking at it in the wrong light. My mind is quite different to yours (as we know), so it works in a different way when observing art.
I didn't mean to sound rude or slander your work, honestly. I think it's great. It'd be nice to see a portfolio of different things though - why don't you ask some people to pose for you? I'm sure you wouldn't be told to bugger off - a lot of people would take it as a compliment to be asked to model.
Anyway, sorry again - I do think your stuff is good, that was just my critical observation. I can understand how an ex-boyfriend (and let's be honest, not your favourite person in the world) giving his opinion on your stuff would be regarded as an attack.

I don't do my stuff for the likes of you. It makes me feel uncomfortable to think that you're viewing my work (especially when so much of my earlier stuff was inspired by the feelings of intense anger and hatred that you evoke in me).
It bothers me that you're here. I'd really appreciate it if you could leave my gallery alone actually. It just makes me feel incredibly angry and disgusted when I read anything written by you.
