wow... this is so nice... i love the vibrant colors, and that much of the sketch is still there... gives it a universal look that it is not super detailed and the mermaid really doesn't have defined features... though the red hair makes me think instantly of little mermaid... but the red hair works great with the deep greens... so really i could not see it being any other color... oi
this is a fav for me... wow

I would say her hair (being my favorite part) and the area surrounding (as it is the focal point of the image).

Nah, nah, there are mermaid-form Sirens! Just look at the Starbucks logo! I love it. I'm so interested in what John's fan art will look like! But you know what I'm thinking? How about we design a siren that has the mermaid tail, but with feathers integrated into her design? I thought that would add a unique twist. And then the shapes of their faces, while still human, would echo more bird-like qualities, like perhaps their eyes would be more birdlike. . . or something like that? Well, now I'm just rambling. But I love the idea so!

There ya go:
In early art, the Sirens were represented as birds with the heads, and sometimes the chests, of women. Later, they were represented as female figures with the legs of birds, with or without wings. The 10th century encyclopedia Suda [1] says that from their chests up Sirens had the form of sparrows, below they were women, or, alternatively, that they were little birds with women's faces. Birds were chosen because of their characteristic beautiful voice. However, later in history Sirens were sometimes also depicted as beautiful women (whose bodies, not only their voices, are seductive), or even as mermaids (half woman, half fish). The fact that in some languages (such as Spanish, French, Italian or Polish) the word for mermaid is Siren, Sirena or Syrena adds to this confusion.
So she could have still been a siren...just depends on what time period she's from I like the water-coloury feel to this watery image...and the colours are very nice!

Aww, pretty.
But you know I did some research on Sirens and there actually part bird. lol
Weird huh. I guess we can add feather to the scales or something. heh
You painted it really well. I like it

It looks like a watercolor. A bit anorexic for my preference. Also I'd like to be able to make out the face more.
I like the light and fluid feel to the plants, and the way they frame the siren with her pearl.
