Description This is a personal favorite of mine, probably the best drawing by tablet that I've done. It was a request from a good friend who was looking to challenge my skills at drawing in Photoshop, and though it took nearly forever, I did get it done.

You can view my progression on the piece here: [link]

Funny, it's exactly midnight as I post this, and I can hear owls calling just outside my window!

haha yeah, one of my friends challenged me to draw an owl with my tablet, and this was the result. i'm glad you like the background, i have had mixed reviews with it

Oh, haha gotcha. I think the bg is neat, better than leaving it plain

A wonderfully detailed drawing. I particularly like that you didn't stop at the owl, but apparently put a lot of work in the bark, too (backgrounds are something I have trouble with ^^°

I featured this image in a news article . (Adding an article to your favourites will give it more exposure.)

wow, i am very honored you would feature me.

aside from the details i like to produce from my animal drawings, i also very much enjoy the beauty and detail you can get from trees and other textured objects.

it looks just like pencil i cant get near as thin a line on any of the programs i have

LisaCrowBurke In reply to RAINBIRD [2008-08-19 04:24:18 +0000 UTC]

i just used the brush tool in photoshop, dropped the size of the brush point and opacity down a bit and just kepy going over it all like i was layering graphite on a pencil drawing.

Mechadon [2008-08-11 23:04:29 +0000 UTC]

Nice. Again, instead of putting that owl on a strait-forward tree, you've got that piece of stripped bark. I love it.

Nature ain't Disney-perfect. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LisaCrowBurke In reply to Mechadon [2008-08-15 04:55:08 +0000 UTC]

disney aint perfect either

i love the texture of bark. it's always so structured yet random and individual. one of my fav things to draw, actually..

and the original image of the owl had it standing on one foot, but i thought it looked funny so i drew in another one

wow, you did such a good job in this that it looks like a pencil drawing! Owls are pretty cool.

LisaCrowBurke In reply to RunsWithHorses707 [2008-08-11 21:29:23 +0000 UTC]

i drew it with the tablet pen exactly as if i were doing it with a graphite pencil, so that's the look i was going for, thanks ^_^

and yes, owls are really awesome.
