Description So, the last one, for this year  Mr. Manson!

Tolerance born of weakness

According to Misik, the only reason that the Church is currently portraying itself as a charitable institution that benevolently takes the part of outsiders and underdogs is because its social power has been broken. He backs up his theory with a quote from the philosopher of religion Kurt Flasch: "When it [Christianity] was powerless, it called for religious freedom. In those countries where it was state religion, however, it adopted an aggressive and fundamentalist stance against groups of heretics."

Christianity, like most religions, works with fear. Sins can be confessed and you are "clean again" and can start to sin again without thinking about your old sins. We believe that people should ask themselevs why they sinned. They should show some responsibility. --Twiggy Ramirez

A reader reports that during the (1997?) MTV Music Video Awards, Manson asked "Do you really want to go to a place filled with a bunch of assholes?!?"

Last time I checked, Marilyn DID used to be Christian, and by this quote, no wonder he left; I think he also became an ordained minister at the Church of Satan at some point, but IDK if he still participates in that.

“What nearly everybody in my life had misunderstood about Satanism was that it is not about ritual sacrifices, digging up graves and worshipping the devil. The devil doesn't exist. Satanism is about worshipping yourself, because you are responsible for your own good and evil.”

Sounds like the LaVeyan Satanists in a nutshell (last time I checked it was Luciferists whom actually worshiped the devil), whom I've decided to apply their give-and-take rules to my life, unlike some of the one-sided, blind-obedience, doormat commandments in the toxic "Christian" branches.

On twiggy ramirez quote: Sin itself is getting overweight on your moral judjment. My experience tells that the best moral comes with a good balance of reason and emotion. Guilt and shame connected to the idea of sin, just makes emotion overthrow reason: and all thats left is the solid rule of religious commandment. A refuge for the neurosis it creates.

happy new year, thanks for this Manson Quote. He sure is a Lord

Oh...I see; you're right that we shouldn't be ashamed or guilty of doing bad things as long as we have a good reason for it (emotions hold us back from doing what needs to be done; I see, I see; for example: lie on your resume so you can get the job). Thanks for sharing; I really appreciate it

Ziruzadat In reply to ENIMINEMOE [2016-01-13 14:56:37 +0000 UTC]

yes, but what I said was: reason can work better if not disturbed by concepts of eternal punishment or heavenly reward.

Bad things are still bad, for an atheist. I mean, as long as repeated behaviour builds up into character, small things like those you refered (the lie on the resume) can build later into not so good consequences for yourself or others you care, at least if you are so confortable with it that you get into lying constantly to get what you want. but of course, consequences it's all that is to moral judgement: that was my point, and I thing you got it!

Sorry if I was rude i appreciate the conversation.

Yep, you're with right; with every decision you make, there's always a benefit and a consequence (most people only see one way or the other...rarely both). Most people won't even accept them when given.

Also, no problem; I'm naturally dumb so I may annoy/anger people sometimes, especially when I open my mouth and say anything. I also liked this conversation as well
