Oddly, that hair-do was called the bubble head.

You probably heard the urban legend about the girl with spiders in her fancy hairdo.

Well, so the story goes, a woman with a beehive or bubblehead hairdo (modern retellings have it be dreadlocks) didn't wash her hair and slept on a special pillow to keep her hair perfect. She was sitting in class (the girl in the story is usually in high school) when her head starts to itch. Next thing she knows, a whole colony of newborn spiders are crawling all over her head!

Like I said, it's just urban legend. I think there's another one out there about a cactus plant full of spiders.

Can remember about strange legends/stories I was told, what 'happened' in my school (sure long before we were there, so no witnesses there for it, of course), I heard that the same stories happened in other schools, too much later. Guess people love these kind of stories and that's why they accumulate somehow, happened or not...

And what you can't see is that their waists are right out of frame. Those hair-do's have left them all about two feet tall.

I'd imagined them as dwarfs, but I guess they could also be obese. Anything's possible with The Lord!

...that hair, it just cannot be real lol. It always weirds me out how the majority is considered the norm. If this was the norm, Id' wanna be considered to be in the minority, lol.

Yeah, I'm familiar with some of the kitsche of the 70's. Wasn't horn rimmed glasses a thing of the 30's, 50's and 60's? This was featured in the film, Stand by Me. I never did understand how horn rimmed glasses were considered a fashion statement tho 0.o
