Again a very old sketch. I hope showing some of the old stuff that makes me cringe will force me to draw newer stuff that I hope will end up being better......yes, a very odd way of thinking about it.

I don't know if you're familiar with the "Ben 10" saga, but this character reminds me of the character "XLR8," an alien that can run at high speeds. Is that where you got the idea?

I think we've all had those moments where we see our older stuff and think "man, I should have..." But we all get "better" with time. As for your work...Christian, you F$#@%ing Own your pages man!!! You're coloring is the cherry on Joe's cake..LOL. seriously though you guys make an AMAZING team!!! I hope Joe finds some time to do more work in comics in the future!

Chris, I knew you were the insane color guy and all, but holy moly, post some more of your own artwork. Everyone thinks their stuff from a few years ago is cringe-causing (I think my crap from yesterday sucks) it's what pushes us to get better.
You got skills from scratch, post more!
This piece is better than 90% of the character design stuff out there.

You're just being humble, which definitely adds to your respectability (is that a word?). If I flipped open a artbook, from any popular company- let's say...Blizzard for example(world of Warcraft/Starcraft)--I would not be surprised to see this illustration in there among their great designs and artwork.
If you did this a couple years ago, you've only gotten better. I can't wait to see more of your stuff. Thanks for the time, man. Continued success to you.

I appreciate people liking it, but there are a ton of things I can see about it, that bother me... I'm sure when you look at your own work after a few years, you feel there's room for improvement.
So I hope I'm not being one of those douche bags that fishes for compliments because the main reason here is for me to force myself to show more recent work...

I completely understand and I agree with you there.
I can't see the mistakes you do cause I'm not at the same level as you and even if I was that doesn't mean that I would see them because I didn't make it.
You are about ten years older than me so these things don't come as a surprise.
Now, if you didn't reply to this it might mean you are too busy or I was calling you out. I think it's safe to say that you aren't fishing for complements. You have no need to.
BTW Your painting skills and techniques are the only ones that I think belong with Joe Mad's art. It just doesn't look the same without the ol' liquid style.
Any word on the contest?????? Any updates???

what i enjoy the most from your pictures/colorings are the tiny details that you put into it...the small highlights all around a person/piece that really bring it to like and give it a very original look...no exception here...you've been my hero for a while now...keep it up!

I don't think I have them for any of the ones I posted. But to sort of answer your question - its an odd process because the pencils tend to be super loose, and messy... and I do it on purpose, because this way I get to 'finish' it in color... if I drew tight, I'd be bored halfway through painting it... so not sure the pencils would make all that much sense to any other human being but me... I also think I do that because if I work over someone else I constantly have to worry about being clean and precise (less with painting on pencils), so that when I get a chance to work on my own junk, I tend to want to do the opposite, and just be loose. Not sure if that makes sense...

First of all thanks for taking the time, it means a lot. I guess I can understand what you are saying. Lately I've been sketching really fast just to set the idea & go right ahead to coloring it. During the coloring I get to fix, delete and re-arrange some of the sketchy stuff, in that same way & for some unknown reason, I tend to approach (color) my art differently that to those made by others. Every time I do something of mine is never quiet what I expected though
