Description A 'Red Lion' of the Hippeastrum family. In German Hippeastrums (that's probably not the right plural but Hippeastri sounds wrong too) are called 'Ritterstern' which translates to something like 'A Knight's Star', which explains the title.

More super cool knowledge: Hippestrum actually means 'Knight's-Star-Lily' and nobody really knows what William Herbert had in mind when he gave these flowers that name.
My parents always call these Amaryllis, but I just read that's actually a common mistake. So don't do that.
