Looks like one of the bridges found in STO, only better. Kudos on the great design!

Nice bridge, I know from creating my own ship years ago that it takes a long time, you want something that speaks to you, but is familiar enough.
Nice design, small efficent yet still "trekky"
I have got to get myself back into drawing, I do miss it

Oh, makes sense.
That could do it.
Can't wait to see.

Is this for a story, or can anyone join?

It's a little story of mine. I'm working on writing the pilot/synopsis. The project has been asleep for over 3 years because I just couldn't find the proper plot.
I re-watched pilot episodes of TNG-era shows and read so many summaries, I want the fans to see I do my research. Star Trek is quite iconic, last thing I want is to insult them y'know.. canon in terms of references.

Care to chat with a fellow Trekker and writer about it? *looks hopeful*

Definitely better than both of the canon bridges...though, if I may be so bold, would you consider changing the carpet colors a bit? The Enterprise-D bridge, for instance, was mostly gray, but with maroon for the trim, and in a patch under the command chairs, which I always thought set things off nicely.
But a great design job, in any event! Well done.

Man, that's awesome! Everything I was expecting. I can definently see the influences from the other bridges. Gotta say I love the wall and front stations design! More than makes up for using voyager's tac pattern. Kudos on the MSD BTW! I wanted to throw one on mine, but I'm just horrible at those things. lol

I actually found an MSD online. There are a few spots where one is availiable. I'll be asking the artist if I can use his, but I'll probably kitbash a few to get what I need.
I don't like the idea of the Warp Core being in the deflector pod.

Yeah, I thought that was a strange spot for it myself. Then again, I never did catch the technicals on how they were even able to put the Nacelles so close to habitable sections of the ship. From what I've read in the old Tech Manuals and various other stats, they were built on pylons originally because they emitted some kind of radiation or something that was toxic to most sentient life forms. Something else I wondered, how does one GET into that deflector pod? I never saw a turboshaft connection in the MSDs I looked at, or even a jefferies tube. lol I'm WAY to technical with this junk...

All the MSDs I gathered show a transporter room behind deflector control. So it would seem that the only way to access it is to use a dedicated site-to-site transporter inside the ship. It probably has several failsafe and redundant circuitry to keep it working in emergency situation.
But considering how some shuttlecrafts, including the Delta flyer, manage to get the engines so close to the hull, it would be possible to do the same thing here. However, it would seem that the better part of the engines are still OUTSIDE the main hull and the the Bussard collectors and main reactions are well-protected.
Just those few factors might help structural integrity.

That explains it. lol I had a feeling that was it.
I follow that logic on the nacelles, I'm just interested in the specific evolution of technology that allowed them to do that in the first place. Maybe it was some sort of improvement on the designs from Voyager?

Yeah. Darn the lack of new official tech manuals. lol Man, I'd love to see one for Enterprise E like they did for D. Wouldn't mind one on Defiant either... Eh, guess that's what fansites are for, right? lol

Very cool.
Are you thinking of doing an exterior shot of this ship?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. ^_^;;
But anyway, try this one. It's a star trek-like ship that was designed for me - [link]

Well, I had wanted to use it for a forum RPG I was playing at.
Unfortunately the forum fell through. -____-
By the way, I'm glad you like it. I'm sure the designer would appreciate that as well.
Though with this ship, what I had intended for it was that it would be a bit of a maverick as far as Starfleet designs.
Namely that it would have a red paint job as opposed to the standard gray.

Oh yes.
That's kind of where I got the name "Event Horizon" from it. I got the name from a science fiction/horror film about a ship that had a very similar drive.
Though I designed it so that it wouldn't be too powerful. That it could only make a certain maximum length jump depending on the power it had. So let's say the maximum length is about...500 light years. Once it made a jump it would have to take a day or two to recharge the drive to make another maximum length jump.
A bit like charging up the flash in a camera.

StarDragon77 In reply to Lionheartcartoon [2010-10-26 17:11:13 +0000 UTC]
Pretty close.
although with the design of my "Event Horizon", I essentially wanted a combination of a Roundabout shuttlecraft and a Star Wars type of fighter as well as the Delta Flyer of Star Trek Voyager.
What would be nice is getting some interior sketches of the ship, know what I mean?

Well, I don't think I would ask for a lot of detail.
Perhaps we can do a collaboration?
