To an outside eye, Pehr is a respectable guy – she does her job, she is true to her promises and most importantly she keeps her head out of trouble. She is stubborn and unyielding in the sense that she is unwilling to apologize for existing or knowing her worth, but she would much rather avoid conflict than bash skulls.
Pehr is remarkably talented at hiding in plain sight; offering enough of what others want in order to conceal her own emotions and intentions. She likes to project a picture of a steady, dutiful and hardworking man. She is in control of herself because she feels like she must, but often struggles to find a true balance within. She is driven by a need for self-preservation tied with a desire to be noticed – an inner battle which often leads her to retreat from deeper social interactions. She hates being invisible, but simultaneously takes pride in her ability to blend in. She realizes it makes her life easier, but is feeling like she is missing out – she is yet undecided which is worse.
Pehr aspires to be objective and fair, but is rather cynical by nature. She often gets lost in reading too much into things and very easily takes a defensive, even dismissive stance. She tends to keep others at a safe distance, and hides her personal opinions in the subtlest of nuances. Her moral compass is strong and her wits are quick, and she dares to trust her instinct. She is naturally intuitive, bordering on sensitive - and does her very best to appear the exact opposite. Pehr dislikes the image she is projecting far more than she dislikes her true self, but she is too terrified to lay down her pretences.
Loving her work is what gets Pehr through her daily challenges – her forge is her safe haven. In her job she is steady and determined, and her mind is at ease in work that requires great precision. She knows she is good at what she does, and that is one of the few things she never questions herself at.
Getting to truly know Pehr is like painstakingly peeling an onion, layer by layer. Beneath the calm are many turbulences stemming from both insecurities and pent up wishes and desires she doesn’t quite know what to do with. While her nature normally appears rather demure, she is surprisingly lively and opinionated once she feels at ease. Pehr is often as much a mystery to herself as she is to others, and her inner personality is a somewhat uncharted territory due to trust issues and possibly even excessive self-preservation. She is, however, slowly starting to crack through and find her way.
History:
It was an ordinary start for a new life in the War Forged – a healthy colt was born in a wedlock of a shipmaker and a weaver. Young Pehr had no idea how much she would eventually end up missing just that - ordinary.
Her parents were a match made out of both love and convenience, and Pehr came into the world just after the war for the clan unification ended, but far enough from Skeldr town for the effect to reach rather slowly. Her father Tasi was a decent provider and Aoide an adoring mother who liked to include her child in all her daily tasks - the two made sure their child was not left wanting for much. Once old enough, Pehr attended a Caenna’s teachings and started building up the necessary skills, proving to be a witty kid with no trouble learning. There were times she was confused, or didn’t feel like she fit in, that maybe she just needed to work extra hard compared to the other colts. Regardless, life was steady.
Pehr was still a child when the Bloody Flanks rose into rebellion, and to this day she remembers the red sails. While there were no personal losses, it was enough to deter her from her father’s trade with ships, and looking into something else. She had never been into proving her physical prowess, or traveling the dangerous roads. Instead, she was interested in crafts and ended up apprenticing under a skilled blacksmith. Working at a hot forge was a taxing job, but it was also rewarding both in the sense of honing her skills and providing a place where she didn’t feel quite so out of place. A place she could prove her worth without bashing skulls and trying to be something she knew in her heart of hearts she was not.
Once she was finished with her training and ready to try her hand at her profession, she decided to tag along with a traveling merchant. The fear of open roads had turned into a silent, burning need to see the world beyond her village, to hear new stories and to reconnect with the world - an attempt at finding her own heart.
Pehr did not enjoy constant travels, but she kept up with it, gathering small bits of knowledge as she went and learning more about the trade and economy around it. Their travel extended all the way to Eithne and back, and while the culture over the border was entirely confusing to Pehr, seeing an entirely new outlook to life was essential for her own growth. She had grown with a rather black and white image of who she was, and what she could or should be. Accepting the world of nuances and color wasn’t exactly easy, but it did give her tools to better understand herself and what defines her - and what does not.
After years of alternating traveling to staying and setting a small shop near the border of Eithne, she was lured closer to Skeldr town by the reinstating of the Guild system in 1700. She gathered her things, emerged from a smaller village and dusted herself off. To the world, Pehr was still known as a War Forged stallion, skilled in the art of blacksmithing. She had decided that hiding a piece of herself to get a leg-up in her profession - her true passion - was just worth the trade-off.
Pehr had to admit to herself she had been waiting for the day she would not settle to just the small-time business and same old faces who would never know who she really was. In an effort to reinvent herself after settling to Skeldr she decided to pray, and for someone harnessing fire in her work it made sense to turn to Ignacio. Her heart longed for the acceptance she had seen on her travels, but she had not truly prepared herself for the answer she received. She was not only blessed, but upon weighing her soul the god told her to wear her fire proudly instead of hiding her potential – and thus scales and antlers replaced her old unicorn features. It was a shock, for certain, and not a transformation she had wished for – but now must deal with. She isn’t yet entirely sure how she is going to manage, but she is determined to make a new life for herself regardless. Her current solution to the issue is hiding her scales under heavy cloaks and claiming her antlers are a weird family trait - she is, however, aware that is not a good long-term plan - she is just doing her best for the time being.

x Tries to pretend cold doesn't bother her
