Btw, cycles rubber material. Glossy black at .01 roughness mixed with white diffuse at a roughness of your choice to make rubber for your tires and seals

That does work. And I dont mean to be offensive with this, but with cycles, there are times where it's best not to use a texture with some materials. In most cases rubber is one of them, if it's rubber that doesnt have print on the side like a car tire does

Touche. I typically start my high grade models with highest poly and textures that are "factory fresh" before they get worn down. And then switch to different textures and reduce the polies for animation versions of the models.

Do you realize that you modeled the canon/gsh in an opposite direction?

Technically Star's jet mode resembled a Sukhoi Su-35 Super Flanker.

this is stunning .
only one thing that caught my attention , that you found a solution for the multiple lights noise in
the cycles render .

i lighted the scene with aralamps and a backlight studio light emitted by a meshlight.
and i rendered at 2000 samples, that is enough for no noise.

That is well done. And I'd love to see more of the Su-27 as you work on it, however, once you master your ultra high frade [high poly] model you should try to make a animation version based on the high poly and see how it turns out.

EverlastingAbyss In reply to Linolafett [2012-09-09 20:55:26 +0000 UTC]
That's actually meduim poly, not low poly. Low poly count for animation models is typically about 50 thousand polies for the entire machine. Also typically only contains details visibly to the outside. Such as the engines would only have the front intake fan and the thrust extraction turbine at the rear.
