Description here is a wip of the current model i am working on, a sukhoi 27.
lovely plane btw, coon i will be modeling a lowpoly cockpit and a low detail pilot, i wont render detailshots of the cockpit, so i wont waste time there.
texturing will be a fun after that..

Btw, cycles rubber material. Glossy black at .01 roughness mixed with white diffuse at a roughness of your choice to make rubber for your tires and seals

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Linolafett In reply to EverlastingAbyss [2012-09-10 07:40:31 +0000 UTC]

i will mix two glossy materials at about 0.1 and 0.8 with a image texture to get the rubber right but thanks!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EverlastingAbyss In reply to Linolafett [2012-09-10 07:46:55 +0000 UTC]

That does work. And I dont mean to be offensive with this, but with cycles, there are times where it's best not to use a texture with some materials. In most cases rubber is one of them, if it's rubber that doesnt have print on the side like a car tire does

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Linolafett In reply to EverlastingAbyss [2012-09-10 08:27:53 +0000 UTC]

i dont get offended
when i look at my reference images, i just can see that the tire has two different kind of reflecting rubber, on the sides, there is the normal glossy rubber, but where the tire has contact with the ground, there are some usage marks from breaking turning etc, lso there is more dirt. so i have to use a texture there to get this details. whith very new tires, which were never used, your material is right, but this here is not a never used plane

EverlastingAbyss In reply to Linolafett [2012-09-10 10:29:22 +0000 UTC]

Touche. I typically start my high grade models with highest poly and textures that are "factory fresh" before they get worn down. And then switch to different textures and reduce the polies for animation versions of the models.

oh, no i did not noticed that, buts an easy fix, i will look at my referende images. gsh ist the same as a cannon?
-looked at the images, i am stupid, thanks for telling me that!

this is stunning .
only one thing that caught my attention , that you found a solution for the multiple lights noise in
the cycles render .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Linolafett In reply to 6Thereaper [2012-09-10 07:38:48 +0000 UTC]

i lighted the scene with aralamps and a backlight studio light emitted by a meshlight.
and i rendered at 2000 samples, that is enough for no noise.

EverlastingAbyss [2012-09-09 20:42:11 +0000 UTC]

That is well done. And I'd love to see more of the Su-27 as you work on it, however, once you master your ultra high frade [high poly] model you should try to make a animation version based on the high poly and see how it turns out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Linolafett In reply to EverlastingAbyss [2012-09-09 20:48:10 +0000 UTC]

its not that highpoly, i am currently at 140k tris (70k polies in the viewport counted, mostly quads), so jeah its a lowpoly one, just looking highpoly
animation could follw, mde a animation with my waterplane the last time, too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EverlastingAbyss In reply to Linolafett [2012-09-09 20:55:26 +0000 UTC]

That's actually meduim poly, not low poly. Low poly count for animation models is typically about 50 thousand polies for the entire machine. Also typically only contains details visibly to the outside. Such as the engines would only have the front intake fan and the thrust extraction turbine at the rear.
