My initial feeling whilst viewing this photograph, is one of memory and its transience.
I think the model's sublime expression made up of light and shade, only goes to accentuate beautifully, the idealism of memory and the use of birds as both metaphor and mode of expressive intent.
I like how the branching birds can be related to memory. And if they are good memories, then those particular birds need not move at all and become one with the pathways of the past. The birds taking flight can be seen as thought that grows into idea and then takes flight through the medium of the artist.
To be shared amongst other minds, where these birds may took roost upon the branches of another creative mind
