thank you very much Lynn!
I wish you all the best too

Cool dogy...let me ask you a question:
What is your reason for the that way to sharpen the color pencils?
I am interested technically... is there a special advantage if doing it so?

Hi Dominik,
You are very welcome and I also wish you all the love and creativity for 2019!!

Thank you for the compliment and there are several reasons why I sharpen my pencils this way:
1: A pencil sharpener often breaks the tips
2: I can use the pencils flat and quickly create backgrounds and stuff
3: I can work more precise
4: I am heavy handed and by giving my pencils longer tips, I forge myself to apply less pressure so I can put in more layers ^^
5: I get a better view of what I am doing while drawing

I hope this makes sense Hahahahaha

Hello Lynn,
thanks for the explanations...
I use the method with a razor blade when drawing with a Conté Pierre Noire as well... but only because they definitely can't be sharpened in other ways.
When it comes to color pencils you could indeed work with a long point sharpener and get a somehow similar shape with all the 5 advantages you have named above... but sharpening will take you a fraction of the time.

I use the the KUM longpoint sharpener www.amazon.com/Kum-104-06-01-M… (mind that it doesn't work with the Caran d'Ache MUSEUM color pencils because those are about 8.5mm in diameter... but no problem with Polychromos for example)

I actually am looking for an electric longpoint sharpener... found the School SMART as in the following video...
but can't find it for european 220 Voltage
www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZXWNY…
Maybe this can be of interest for you... but I don't want to criticise your method.... it's just so time consuming to sharpen pencils with a razorblade... and I know how much you use them
cheers
// Dominik

Hi Dominik,

Thank you so much and will check it out!

Must say, I my years of drawing, I always fall back towards my knife because the sharpers quit being sharp after a week already...
They break my points and make me very angry LOL

Have a great search my friend and we will meet again in 2019!!!
All the love - LIneke
