Hellooo everyone!
I decided to paint up my drawing of a microraptor I drew the other day as practice towards a methodical approach to painting.

I enjoy the experimental (let’s start a painting and see what sticks) method to painting, but it’s also very, VERY nice to have a step-by-step method to painting that I can heavily rely on when I don’t feel experimental.

You know, funnily enough I just learned the other day about the feather coloring of Ararcheopteryx. It was sheer coincidence that I accurately choose black feathers, but hey, I'll take it!

It's pretty easy to paint feathers once you figure out how they are constructed. It's the sheer number of them that makes it a painful process. I might make a tutorial on how I do it, because a lot of tutorials over complicate the process by drawing every single vane (all the lines) for the feather.
