Heh heh heh. When I told my brother (who knows exactly diddly about YuGiOh!) what his Japanese name was, he looked at him and went "...Osiris? Wtf? Isn't Osiris, like, a falcon or eagle or osprey or something? ...Did they have osprey in Egypt? Whatever, he's a big snake-thing, if anything he ought to be Set." So... since I'm lazy, help us out here, oh almighty knower of the Egyptian mythos. What the heck is Osiris, anyhow?

I know! They TOTALLY screwed up the mythology in the show. (Actually, you're thinking of Horus. Osiris was the human-form god of the afterlife with the nasty-lookin' green skin...>.>;; Always shown with the white bowling-pin-shaped crown? You know. XD) And Osiris wasn't even a god related to the sky at all! X.x;; The only one they even got close to getting right of the 3 gods was Ra. *le sigh*
But you're right, his design would go better with Seth/Set.

Now, Takahashi-sama didn't totally screw up the mythology. There may not be a god named Obelisk, but for a "God of Obelisk," hell, I don't know how you can monsterize an obelisk any better than that. And hey now, 'twas the dub that called him "Sky" dragon. "Saint" dragon wouldn't be far off the mark if he's a god of the afterlife... So, what, Osiris didn't have an animal characteristic at all? That's.... odd.

The Ra Dragon always reminded me more of a gryphon than a dragon anyway... Which would kinda be accurate, actually. X3;;;

I'm a dragon obsessor. I LOVE dragons. (Which is odd, for as generally indifferent as I am toward snakes... o.o;; Some days, fascination, other days, fear. XD And sometimes I just really couldn't care less.)

Yeah...I was trying to come up if there was a god that was associated with obelisks in particular, but the closest I can come up with would be Ra... Ah well.
Yeah, "Saint" is a little more accurate, I guess... *forks dub-translators* (Nope! Osiris was one of the few gods that wasn't associated at all with an animal! The closest association with an animal he had was his bird-winged wife and his falcon son. XD ....And his brother, who nobody has a clue what the hell HE is...o.o)

YEP!! But, see, I'm a bird fanatic (especially raptors-- falcons, eagles, hawks, etc.), so I love those bird-looking creatures!

Hehe, well, I don't have MY scans up (too many pics, SOOOO little webspace... Danged Angelfire... ><*) , but my buddy , who owns the scans of those Slifer/Osiris ones, is the one I buy mine from! I believe she has some of Red Eyes, Blue Eyes, 5-God Dragon, Slifer/Osiris, & Ra, and maybe a few of the less-known ones. Here's her scans:
