First time i'm actually proud of something i created.~~~~
I'm really happy how this one came out. I love the coloring, the lighting, the pose and background.
I made this yesterday, in the evening, and it only took 1 hour. c:
It's made on only 2 layers, one for the background, one for the growlithe, and i used the same coloring style as in leaf-sledding,
but now with a much smaller brush while constantly changing the blending amount.
I just felt like drawing this, and then it all came so easily. I'm proud. c:
Okay, Í'm off now to the rest of my family to celebrate New Year, so i won't reply for a few days. (Also see journal)

Overall, I'd say you achieved a sort of calmness in the picture. That's great for a picture like this.
The shading technique is good, but the shading itself is a bit off. I think growlithe should be a bit darker on the sides facing away, and yellow-ish towards the firefly. Just make the dark parts darker on your pictures. It looks more dramatic that way, and emphasizes on its form, and the surrounding shadows.
The background's great, I like how you show depth by using increasingly faded shapes. However, I don't quite get the light at the top. Are those fireflies, or lights from a city far away? If fireflies, try to scatter them all over the picture, not just cluster them at the top. If it's a city you're going for, then make the lights duller, and give them less glow. Try to reduce the brightness of the blue grass too. It competes for attention with growlithe.

First of all, thank you for taking your time to write a critique, I really appriciate it.
Now, the shading. I have to admit that I totally forgot about the light from the firefly and the shadows going with it on growlithe, maybe because i added the background after totally finishing the Growlithe. It's realy great that you mention it, so i can keep an eye on that next time! c:
Haha, those lights were ment to be stars, but now i see that they're very close lookalike with the firefly, causing some confusion. xD

Growlithe is my favorite pokemon and you have such a cute style. I love his little eyes! The pose is perfect too. He's curious and playful, and I imagine him wiggling his tail a little bit
