What made Hughes funny was that he was acting like any father would've.Always talking about there kids and showing off photos of them.

I think Envy did the shooting. but Sloth helped in the original FMA Anime, but not in manga and FMA Brotherhood.

Brotherhoood follows the manga closely, so the second half + ending are different. and there are different characters in Brotherhood.
Also, (random side note) Armstrong has fewer sparkles, and they are orange instead of pink

when maes died, it made me hate envy from that day at least in brotherhood and it gave me a pretty haunting nightmare about something similar happening to my own dad who kinda gushes over us but not like pulling out photos every second
