It’s so weird how one moment can decide about the rest of person’s life. One wrong word, one wrong decision or one wrong step and everything you have been building is falling into pieces. One touch, one look or one smile could change average life into a fairytale. Some say it’s because of God’s justice others that it is Karma or perhaps maybe Fate. Humans were born to live a life full of surprises.

You never thought about that much. World had its own rules and it didn’t matter who established them.

But whoever had control over one’s destiny must had a very bad mood that day. In one moment a car passed by you with so much speed that the puddle on the street splashed on your clothes, and in another second you felt as if you were falling and then… You felt your body descending into the water.

You were so surprised that you didn’t even notice that the water reached only to your knees. Moving your legs and hands rapidly you finally sat up and coughed as the water burned your lungs. When you could breathe again, you looked around, your eyes widening in the process.

A huge waterfall stood proudly near to your location and you wondered if it was from where you fell. Your brain was telling you it was impossible, as there was no way you would survive but on the other hand… That feeling was so real.

Tall trees surrounded the lake you found yourself in. The place looked so serenade, with birds singing sun shining and warm wind brushing past your hair. But then a question formed itself in your head.

Where am I?

And the answer came soon enough but it wasn’t something you expected. An arrow was pointed at your head while a very angry, yet handsome, man was carefully watching your features. His blond hair were neatly braided and his blue eyes were looking directly into your (e/c) ones.

You couldn’t move, you couldn’t speak, you couldn’t even blink as his gaze was so intense. And when you heard his voice a shiver ran down your spine. You didn’t know if it was because of how it sounded or because of the danger each word was filled with.

“What are you doing here?”

It was a simple question, one tense, five words that turned out to be the hardest one to find answer to. A silence embraced you as you only looked at each other.

“I don’t know.” finally came your answer. The answer that nearly killed you.

A female suddenly appeared before you, her long hair brushing your face. Her arms were wide open as she covered you with her body. You noticed that both of them had pointed ears and guessing from their faces, they knew each other very well. Words that had no meaning to you left their lips. After a moment that seemed to be a whole eternity, the woman turned around to face you, with a hand extended for you to take. After a moment you let her help you stand up, after all she saved your life that day.

You looked over her shoulder at the man who drew back his bow his eyes never left your body.
Perhaps it was a Fate that you found yourself in that strange world. And maybe it was your luck that you were living. But what you were worried about was what you were destined to do in that unknown world, especially when with your heart beating so fast.

Later you found out that he was and Elven prince, what surprised you a little bit as he didn’t seem to be one… Or maybe you just had another idea of royal family. Both of the Elves never told you about their mission or where they were travelling to. No one knew that you would accompany them for a longer time.

The night was chilly, yet you didn’t feel cold. The dying fire was the only source of light except the moon high above. Tauriel was somewhere scouting as it was the time for you to sleep. But it was easier said than done.

How many days have you spend there was a wonder. After that day, the day when Legolas nearly killed you, you joined the two Elves. It was supposed to be only for a short moment, until the first human village. But… you never made it to one. And because Tauriel didn’t like the idea of leaving you behind, in opposite to her companion, you stayed with them.

And Legolas always kept an eye on you. What sometimes was really irritating. You weren’t as strong or flexible or good at fighting as they were but you managed to survive by your intelligence, or so you liked to think. He always seemed to never trust you but on the other hand he was always there to save you from the enemy’s blow.

Perhaps it was because of the stories you would tell Tauriel from time to time that made Legolas suspicious. Tales about the world you knew, the one with cars, buildings that touched the sky, with electricity and firearms. The world without magic, Orcs and dragons.

To them you sounded as if you had lost your mind. What was really funny in your opinion, considering what place you found yourself in.

A smile appeared on your lips. You lay on your back and watched the stars shining brightly. It was one of the few things you loved about that world. The sky that had no limit and the sea of lights sprawled on it, the amount you never saw before in your life. A sigh left your lips.

“You should go to sleep already. We move with sunrise.” the tone of his voice didn’t give you chills like it did before but it wasn’t nice for ears too. Legolas was always straight to the point when it came to you. You could understand why he was like that, but still… One smile couldn’t kill anyone, could it?

“I know but I can’t sleep.” you answered paying close attention to any word that left your lips, you didn’t want to argue with him for who knew which time. He never talked with you more than needed, so expected him to just walk away or maybe reprimand you, but instead he sat up next to you. His gaze left your face and wandered up to the sky.

And you couldn’t stop but wonder, wasn’t it the first time you were alone? Alone and in such a close proximity too. You watched him for a second or two before gazing at the stars once more.
Silence filled the space between and around you, as it always did. Nothing rustled, nothing sung and even your breaths were unheard.

Suddenly his word reached you, they were something you never even dreamed of hearing.

“I’m sorry.” and you instantaneously sat up to ensure that you didn’t fall asleep. “I don’t know how to take you back.” he turned towards you and looked you straight in the eyes.

Funny, you just noticed that your relationship was filled with gazes connecting and watching each other. That was why you knew one another pretty good and maybe it was why he was always there to catch you whenever you were falling, literally, as he saw your every little mistake and imperfection. He was a very protective person. But even so, his words surprised you.

A smile crept onto your lips and then you couldn’t stop the soft laugh coming from your lips. Seeing confusion on his face you calmed yourself down.

“I don’ know too. But I think… That the answer will come sooner or later. And so we don’t have to worry about it too much.” A warm smile appeared on your lips. Your gazes locked one more time but then you saw something different in his eyes, even if it was only for a slightest moment… It was there.

No more word was uttered as both of you sat there watching the stars shining above. Suddenly you felt your eyelids becoming heavier and your vision darkened… and then, you lost contact with reality as your mind was filled with colorful dreams.

Soft green grass moved with a light breeze. He gazed at the stars, listening to the sounds of the woods. Anything could hide in the darkness and he needed to pay attention to his surroundings. But then, suddenly, something warm hit his shoulder. Legolas gazed at the sleeping maiden sitting next to him. His hand rose on its own to brush off a stray strand of hair from her face.

It was nice to see her when she wasn’t talking, or complaining or glaring at him… She looked beautiful when she was at peace.

A smile appeared on his lips as he wrapped his arm around the girl and pulled her towards his chest. His lips touched the girl’s forehead placing a loving kiss on her skin as if to ensure her that she was safe and protected in his embrace.

Legolas’ eyes closed as he enjoyed the silent moment between them.

Tauriel expected everything, both of them dead, (y/n) sitting on a tree with Legolas demanding her to come down or just the girl alone as he couldn’t stand the girl anymore. But the brown haired Elf would never imagine them sleeping next to each other in a tight embrace. It was one of those moments when the Elvish female wished she had that ‘camera’ thing her human companion was talking about.
