My Otakon 2006 costume. Anna Williams of the Tekken Series. It wasn't so much hard to make, just time consuming because I had to handsew so much of it.

To begin with, there was no way I was making this a one piece dress and there was no way I was making a corset.....I'm just not up there yet in skill, so I worked around it.

Purchases: Fabric-Red with black asian leaf print for the dress and gold for the lining, both on super duper sale because a fabric store in manhattan's fashion district was closing.
Bodice-From Macy's.....it's really white and is suppose to give you a nice figure under your clothing. Extremely stretchy. Not proper fabric to dye.
Wig-Couldn't get the right color, length, AND style.....so I had to buy a longer wig at 40 and then spend another 25 to get it cut. XP
Gloves-Had to buy them in white and dye them by boiling.

This was by far the simplest big costume I made......like I said, just time consuming. I had to start by covering the corset in the red fabric. Tricky cause the bodice stretches a whole lot and the fabric, not at all. I had to put it on, mark the fabric need per section(wire to wire), cut, pin while on, and then handsew. I couldn't use a machine because of the wire in the bodice....would've busted my new machine in a sec. Whenever I had the chance to work on it it would take me all day just to get a section done. When it was finally covered, the hook/eyes in the back were exposed....so I had to sew on a flap that closed with velcro to mask it up. The cups were tricky and took multiple tries before they fit correctly. The left cup didn't sew in as well as the right, but you really can't notice unless you're up close. Because of my lack of time, this whole bit took nearly all summer and I didn' make the rest of the dress until the day I was leaving. ^____^;;;; It was easy though. I took the remaining fabric, cut it in half, same with the lining, to create front and back pieces. Each piece was sewn to lining and then stitched on the right side. The left I played with until I had the slit wide enough. Hemmed the top, hemmed the bottom, and added a snap button to create a wrap around skirt that buttoned at the slit. It was high enough on my waist that the bodice and skirt appeared to be one piece. I dyed the gloves, bought the wig and shoes a few days before the con. This whole costume was more tedious than it sounds. I love the way it came out though....I'm quite happy with it and it was well received......although SOME people mistook me for Nina Williams or even Ada Wong from RE4.....grrrrr. XD Fun fun though!
