I actually like the simple BG, leaves more room for the character to shine.
She's a very cute character, I'm guessing the chain is her weapon. (Lol Velvet from Odin Sphere! /o/)

It's pretty good for a fake character. But after I look down her left arm(Right arm if you wanna be blunt) I notice it's GONE.xD I know it's behind that cloak of hers but the cloak goes so in-ward that it's like she's only got 1 arm!XD Otherwise great.
