I'm sorry but trypophobia is not a thing that actually exists, it might make you slightly uncomfortable but it's not a real phobia

Please watch how you word things on the internet. It's hard to understand what kind of tone is beinging used. I understand this is your opinion but some people have disorders that have just been named. There hasn't been enough time to put them in dictionaries. Please just keep your opinions about mental illness or phobias on your own page and out of people's comments. Some people feel attacked when others when people kinda diss their disorder. thank you.

I'm sorry, I won't do that again if it makes people uncomfortable. It's just that I always see images of this kind with dozens of comments talking about trypophobia and it really feels like most of those people don't actually know what's the difference between having a phobia and being mildly disgusted, and casualy throwing such words around could lead to some people not understanding what having a real phobia really is like. If this person really has that phobia, I'm sorry

It's okay. I understand where you're coming from. I'm not mad or anything I just don't want a group of people to gang up on you because you worded something wrong. It happens alot. I'd rather you not get in any drama or any problems if it can be avoided

If anyone has an issue with the way I say things, I want them to be offended and having a bad time. Everyone wants to self-diagnose a mental illnesses to themselves or use them as an excuse to say negative and oppressive things. A mental illness isn't something to flaunt over or be prideful about. You shouldn't mention it or get offended at every mere excuse to do so. If you have a phobia, you need to try to get it fixed because, believe it or not, phobias are defined as irrational. If you scream every time you see multiple small holes, I shouldn't have to be "more courteous to your mental illness"; rather, you should be more courteous to me, and everyone surrounding me, and stop screaming.

wow 0 to ass real quick i see. phobias can be irrational but most phobias stem from past trauma. some people cant help it. i have been diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and i have many many phobias due to it. i have worked with many of the but sometimes theres things i cant just work through. its funny how you say all this but i'd like to see you tell someone who is paralyzed in a wheel chair that they have to be more courteous to you because of their physical state THAT THEY CANT HELP IT. mental illness and phobias are the same. its a mental state THAT THEY CAN'T HELP BEING LIKE THAT. maybe you should be a little more open about mental illness and phobias. maybe do some research before opening your mouth

Smoke weed you maniac. Phobias are irrational regardless of whether they come from past traumas or are learned from others - it isn't exclusive. The only other case is if the phobia is extreme, which is irrational on its own terms. I also know they almost always come from society and can be fixed if you seek a real solution (medication isn't a solution but a problem). People like you are unwilling to suppose the cause of their mental problems derive from their environment. Also, nice job comparing it to someone who is physically handicapped. I'm surprised you can't differentiate a physical and mental issue; it must be your anxiety. If the person in the wheel chair was acting entitled because of his handicap, I'd call him a piece of shit btw

your opinion is your opinion. but its semi wrong. i'm not a maniac. i simply have a biological chemical imbalance. simple as that. my life isn't bad. I have a pretty good one actually and i'm very grateful for what I have. So there really is nothing around me to cause my anxiety. i just have it. its biological, I can't stop it. Smoking actually doesn't help, it actually makes me feel sick for some reason. it might have been laced but i'm not in to it. My point with the whole paralyzed thing was to show how people favor those with problems we can see, but the very second people, like you, who are uneducated or have not yet been affected by it make a huge problem and arse out of themselves. please educate yourself on mental illness.

I've looked really deep into a lot of this stuff. There's a lot of stuff debunking the chemical imbalance thing. The main thing to note though is that there is no evidence to support the chemical balance hypothesis. This is a good explanation of the whole thing, but there might be better ones:

Lots of people don't realize there are life issues that are effecting them in some way. I have nothing against you, and I don't know your life position, but just in the same case, I don't know if your anecdote is true (and you may very well not know either). Nothing to be ashamed about. I've been through this too.

Humans didn't have a word for fear of spiders until someone said "hey, this is a problem a lot of people have let's NAME IT" either. This whole "it's not really a thing because the dictionary doesn't define it yet" needs to stop because that's not how language happens.

I agree that I do not possess enough knowledge on the subject to argue about it, and it is possible to have a phobia about literally anything, but I really doubt that all people on the internet claimimg to have it do actually have it. And I don't think casualizing mental disorders is a good idea either, you could just say that it looks disgusting to you or something, no need to call it a phobia

I have it, but I think phobia is not the right word for it (mainstream lexicon perhaps lacks something specific enough, therefore phobia is an acceptable substitute). It is certainly a thing though, and rather difficult to describe. I mean, Arachnophobia is easy because you can determine the fear by the reactions. The person was screaming in terror, what was your first clue? Trypophobia is not really fear at all, at least, not for me. It's somewhere between discomfort, nausea, and an unquenchable persistent need for tightly grouped "holes" to fuck right off, right now, and not exist, ever.
edit: something about irritation. Whatever is happening in the mind with trypophobia I'd say is connected to the repulsion of rashes and fungus. A perception imbalance; my mind is connecting dots in the background, which produce a "fuckoffnow" response in the foreground.

Trypophobia is a thing that exists. There are different varying levels of it though. Some are scared/disturbed of holes in the ground, some scared/very disturbed of the photoshops on the internet, some scared/very disturbed by holes in characters and so on, so forth.

I still think that going "ew" over a picture on the internet is different from having a phobia

That is your opinion, and you are entitled to have that. Yet please to have the understanding and respect that for others it is a very real thing, and it is definitely worth having classified as a phobia.

Respect is something that is earned. Not something that is given to anyone who declares themselves to have a mental illness.
