Yeah man, it's awesome. When I punch it at the trafic lights, old people nearby die from heartattacks. I also discovered that there's actually a 350 inside that belonged to a 71 pick up. Don't like that. I'm considering to put in a newer crate engine. Since it's not even close to representing the original 327 and all.. ah well.

Been a while since we've seen some more of yours!

One nice thing about a crate engine is it will have a warranty, at least. That's how our Corvette was. It was a 327 car but had a 350 in it. (It's the 350 that's in my Camaro now only slightly... modified...)
Not to mention big small blocks are more affordable now. 427 small block!
What I really want to build is a 377 small block.

True. But I would also need to upgrade the suspension. This car stil has single rear leaf springs. In 68 they only had multi leafs from 350 engines and bigger. Not to mention the transmission, not sure if it will be able to take 300 horses.
But, all in it's time. The first thing I need to do is replace the front shocks, the wheels rub a bit at bumps

Any suggestions for those?

And I think you don't need to get a 377 for yours. It's divine the way it is.

You know, it's more expensive, but if you want to really kick it into high gear they have a bolt in four link rear suspension. No modification that can't be undone. I hope to do that one of these days. No more tire hop, and can have a much nicer ride. It also leaves the option to put the proper springs in down the road if you want to restore it.
Tranney, 350 Automatic? Or Muncie 4 speed? Saginaw?

The downside to the 377 I have is that it puts out a little over 1000 horsepower. It would take a lot of work for the car to be able to handle it.

I don't understand why people would put in so much horses. It would be nice to drive to some shows, but for average street use.. I would never consider it A friend of mine just bought a Bel Air ex-drag car with about 800hp (Super Victor jr intake and all..) and a 5gallon tank. He's now downgrading because it's just not driveable

I just looked up some things about the transmission. I'll have to check the number, but if it's the original transmission, it would make the car a lot more special. It's a TH350, but those were not an option until 1969. Only a small number of late 327 '68s got them as part of a test fleet. Too bad I won't be home until december

That's what I like about this design. It's still a bear to keep under control but since it's a turbo engine the lag helps keep it from launching too hard. Imagine what you'd have to do to put it all to the pavement. I coulda gone much bigger in mine, but I like the way this engine behaves. I did a few upgrades, and I can feel the improvement! BUT the little... and literal... spin I took reminded me that more power often brings a whole new respect for what it's like to be a squirrel on crack. One minute everything is fine and before you know it you're ass over teakettle and you don't know what direction you're facing!
TH350 would be a great transmission! Maybe not against a big block but with some work on the valve bodies and clutch packs and a few other things I don't really understand... and it can hold up to some good power.
