I guess opposites can try, who knows, like Hyouka? Eru Chitanda is way too different from who's his name again? It's cool if guys are emos, serious, handsome guys cuz it makes them cool and the girls are happy and active would make them cute (Cute + Cool = C's) They can try to work together (I don't ship them) How fast is Shadow cuz if his near or as fast as Sonic then I believe Pinkie's sense can save herself...

I think this is more of a comedic value pairing if anything. Pinkie Pie being the "funny guy" while Shadow is the "straight man"....
Otherwise I CAN'T see Shadow being with anybody, even though he's my favorite character I will still admit that he's a humongous jerk.
The only thing I could see is a possible Maria/surrogate-sister relationship with Fluttershy.
At the end of the day he's still the loner that we all know, love and or hate.
