I signed up for the Cap/Iron Man Reverse Big Bang over at Livejournal on a whim and my art got claimed by the amazing Copperbadge .So for the past month or so I've been drawing these, illustrating the fic he wrote based on my art. The second picture was the one I used for the claims so the other four are the ones based on Sam's writing. It's a 616 AU set during the Prohibition. Because who can say no to that?
It's been amazing journey and I've quite literally put everything else on hold in order to complete these in time before the deadline.
Still, it was worth it because the fic is awesome, I'm really proud of the art and it was my first time doing one of these collaboration things. And I loved it.
I hope that you will too!
I had a lot of fun trying to give the pictures the 'old photos'-look and I loved drawing those clothes. I just loved all of it.

It's a project held over at livejournal. A group of artists draw pictures meant to inspire a fanfic, then fanfic-writers get to claim the pictures and write for them. The artist and writer are given about a month to work on the thing - the artist can draw more pictures if they want (like I did) - and the level of collaboration varies, but the fic is supposed to be connected to the initial image anyway.
Then the teams start posting their works when they've reached their deadline. In this case we were around 40 teams I think, all posting during May
That's a REVERSE Big Bang, since the pictures are drawn first. In a regular Big Bang a writer will give a short summary of a fic intend to write and the artists are the ones picking the story they like the most.
Then the author writes and the artist illustrates.
It's a really fun project and usually you can find some pretty awesome fanfics and fanart!

Remember that you can only submit pictures drawn specifically for the Big Bang though (as in not old ones), so if you find one you sign up for it shold be new pictures.

Gorgeous job with the textures! They really add some history to the "photographs" without distracting from the details at all. I love all the extra little details on the clothes, too. You draw the folds of the cloth in a way that implies movement really well. Did you have to work from references for that?
And I'm dying at the way Tony is standing on the bottom step to be as tall as Steve in the last one!

I love textures. I just can't help it! It can add so much to a picture and these were a good example of that.
No, I didn't use references for the folds. I suck at using references >_> I did look up how the design for the suits and tuxedos in particular but that was just to be able to draw them in general. I never went deeper and used them for details.
I think that's pretty cute, isn't it?
I just saw it in my minds eye when I read the fanfic and couldn't help drawing it that way!

I tried to replicate that 'old photos'-feel, just to make sure that they suited the story better, and I've been told that it worked! It was so much fun drawing these and people seem to love them which just makes it even better!

It was a lot of work but I'm proud over the result! Even if I was pretty sloppy on the backgrounds sometimes
