Why is people always talking about Gorden Freeman? He's my least favorite hero in Valve. I really don't like Half Life 2. Why do people think thats the best and only best? There's Portal, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, and I don't know what else.

Half-life was before those others, though, and it had a huge impact on video-game story-telling, and it was the first game Valve made.
What characters you personally like is totally subjective, though. And as a character, Freeman really isn't much. For many people, it's more what he symbolizes that makes him iconic.
